I don't mean what I'm about to say in a sappy way, but a fairly hard-nosed one: natural ecosystems are often remarkably good at recovering from serious local natural disasters *if they are given the chance.*

No joke: I got angry hate mail today for writing an obituary of a Black woman scientist—because the person felt she did didn’t deserve the recognition. Which just makes me want to share it again: www.nature.com/articles/d41...

518 Zine Fest tomorrow! I turned my @marchxness.bsky.social essay into a zine and I'll have some copies there ❤️‍🔥
A drawing of a green moth reading a zine, highlighting the 518 Zine Fest on March 28 from 12-4PM in Albany, NY. The moth's wings have all of the tablers listed, and the Albany skyline can be seen in the background.A spread from Erin's zine on heteronormativity and Paula Cole's Where Have All The Cowboys Gone showing a woman on a horse going off a cliff with men chasing her. Erin is holding the zine in her room, you can see her feet and some other zines on the floor.

This Blink/Bush matchup is the heartbreaker of my Xennial dreams. Sixteen Stone was one of my favorite albums as a thirteen-year-old, but Adam’s Song was my saddest 90s pop punk anthem, and when I saw Blink for the first time a couple years ago man did I weep. Blink forever!

In high school I crowd surfed at a Blink 182 concert (very not my nature, but, exhilarating!). My gateway to Blink was MxPx, who I also loved dearly. There's still time to help Blink make it to the next round! marchxness.com/schedule

lolololol I was thinking about this when I was doing the uke cover too! I tried to do a sad version but I really couldn't pull it off and I was having so much fun! I decided Blink wasn't really the type to face death and sadness without laughing at it a little bit

ahhhhh listen to you! I set out thinking I'd follow the form of the song and not mention the song itself but then buckled and added it in, so of course I was karmically due to be matched with someone who beautifully followed through on that very idea! An inspiration! And perfect competition!

Worth watching this in full. The statement is more powerful than this quote alone. Here is is from USA Today, with alt text. Also! Rich Ruohonen is a personal injury lawyer and the oldest athlete to ever represent the United States in a Winter Games at 54 years old.
"I'm proud to be here to represent Team USA, and to represent our country. But we'd be remiss if we didn't at least mention what's going on in Minnesota and what a tough time it's been for everybody. This stuff is happening right, right around where we live""I am a lawyer, as you know, and we have a constitution," Ruohonen continued, "and it allows us to (have) freedom of press, freedom of speech, protects us from unreasonable searches and seizures, and makes it that we have to have probable cause to be pulled over. And what's happening in Minnesota is wrong. There's no shades of grey. It's clear.""I really love what's been happening there now with people coming out, showing the love, the compassion, integrity and respect for others that they don't know, and helping them out," Ruohonen said. "And we love Minnesota for that.

"And I want to make it clear that we are out here, we love our country. We're playing for the U.S. We're playing for Team USA. And we're playing for each other, and we're playing for our family and our friends that sacrificed so much to be here today. And that doesn't change anything.

"Because what the Olympics means is excellence, respect, friendship, and we all, I think, exemplify that. And we are playing for the people of Minnesota and the people around the country who share those same values. That compassion, that love and that respect."

Highlighting the speaker who stood in front of the Surprise mayor and told him to consider what the Mayor of Ohrdruf must’ve thought before he died by suicide: “He might have thought ‘how is this my fault I had no jurisdiction over this’ maybe he said ‘this site was not subject to local zoning.’”

"The gentleman I was standing next to was focused on helping people who were coming into Nicollet Avenue understand that they needed to take it slow and helping them get through. ... "Next thing I knew, they shot him." www.mprnews.org/story/2026/0...
Stella Carlson said that before the shooting, the man was helping vehicle traffic get around the area where ICE agents and observers had started to gather.
"The gentleman I was standing next to was focused on helping people who were coming into Nicollet Avenue understand that they needed to take it slow and helping them get through. The ICE agents approached us, told us to back up, back up. I'm not even sure why we were helping them, if anything. And I got on the snow bank, and next thing I knew, they shot him," Carlson said.
