"You're right, Toad," the AI model said. "The kite won't fly and you should go back to bed." "The kite won't fly," said Toad. "I should go back to bed." Frog tried to call Toad back to him. Toad walked away and asked the AI model, "Should I sleep until next May?"

Leveled up to be part of, then in charge of, the pit: - no lines to memorize, music always in front of you - scarce costume changes - fewer rehearsals - dat money babyy - okay, not that much money. But I get to sing along with the pit while I conduct before the sitzprobe

Loudly outing and shaming myself as a Bad Concertgoer. I'm not sure I could name ten concerts, period. I like music, and I like performing music. I felt too busy to go when younger and now it's both too expensive and I have too many kids to go much now

Being the only music teacher in a building can get a bit lonely. Classroom teachers get teaching, but it's different setting ~25 students all day vs the entire school for an hour at a time each week. And I'm fairly lucky to have that!

The trick here is to get a color commentator who likes to either get into long tangents or just make catchphrases. Darren Panger for me, play a nice chord and the crowd hears "Holy jumpin'!"

Daughter just walked up and said she made a melody she liked. Hummed it for me, I hummed it back and transcribed it. Outside calm, but somewhere between buzzing excited and beaming proud that she's got the bug 🥰

Thought I could have two consecutive years where my general classroom setup would remain the same. Fire Marshall came in, told the district I need to turn the students to face the opposite way to see a visual fire alarm. Which is where the ukuleles hang. Fingers crossed that's fixed over the summer

Practice at 5:30, games at 6 and 8. My car is filled with McDonald's litter and the passenger seat is caked in Diamond Dry from a ten year old that lost by one run an hour after bedtime. Welcome to summer ball for four kids. (Except that, with snow days, there's still school tomorrow.)

I *finally* read @katebeaton.bsky.social 's Ducks. The mix of reality and levity, of a two-year span told one gag-per-page at a time, was exactly my pace. Lots to chew on, a great story worth telling.
