gatekept away from "important stuff" or alternatively not being allowed to make "too much" code. There is of course the other side of the coin that writing code is 1 of like 18 skills a good SWE needs, reading code is in my experience a much harder skill to develop which I am uncertain if agentic

Agentic Coding are one of many tools which have come to coding, the hypothetical gains of which probably rivals the introduction of agile or higher quality high level programming languages. However if you have been at an older company for a length of time you will know how this story can play out.

This is not to say that tools cannot create pressures for reform within this, but for most places of work these pressures will come as upsetting deep structures and create more problems than they solve immediately. It's absolutely worth it to try but you must understand the pain that comes with.

Furthermore social organization is and will always be the end all be all for productivity, if you cannot manage the labor being done you cannot use a tool to fix it. Most issues in the work places stem from an organization of labor which naturally creates unproductive conflict between the laborers.

Games need blockbusters, they're a sort of apex-predator to them. A big issue is that the blockbusters got too serialized and now all we have is Dark Souls and GTA6. GTA6 or Elden Ring 2 could both be worse than whatever assassin's creed is up to but that doesn't matter, we have 111 of the latter.

most teaching of patterns in oop is a backwards way to go about it, most of the time these structural patterns exist to fix issues which exist across some thousands of lines or have to do with coordinating changes in large projects. neither of which are easy to provide examples for.

parse don't validate really should be basic for most oop codebases. objects and their relations should be built on assumptions on how their interfaces behave, declaring new types for managing specific conditions for an object is perfectly congruent with good oop design.
