WGSS: Congratulations! Ololade Faniyi Awarded 2026 Mellon/ACLS Dissertation Innovation FellowshipRead her abstract by using the link in our bio. The department of women’s, gender, and sexuality studies wishes a warm Congratulations to Ololade Faniyi, who has been awarded a Mellon/ACLS Dissertation Innovation Fellowship for the coming academic year. The award will allow Faniyi a year to engage in collaborative ethnographic practice with women data workers, feminist tech policy activists, and feminist tech developers across Kenya, Nigeria, Zambia, and South Africa, in support of her dissertation, "Technologies Beyond Man: African Feminist Reimaginings of the Human/Techno-Modernity."

Interested in queer cabaret at Emory? Get involved with the Restoration Project!
The Restoration Project: Be the main character of your own story. This project is about devising an original cabaret, exploring the history of cabaret, and will take place Fall semester of 2025. This will be the first step towards creating a queer cabaret for Emory. Whether you sing, write, dance, act, or want to be part of something bold and beautiful, this is your invitation. This workshop will take place in person on Tuesdays at 5:30 PM- 6:45 PM, September 9th through November 11th in Rich Memorial Building, room 210. We'd love to see you at the launch of Volume Two of Intarsia: 6pm Candler Library 125, Tuesday March 18. Intarsia is a peer-reviewed and open-access journal of undergraduate scholarship that addresses feminism, sexuality, sex, and gender from queer and feminist theoretical perspectives.

John Cameron Mitchell will visit Emory on March 27 for a masterclass and public lecture! Mitchell is known most widely as the writer and director of Hedwig and the Angry Inch and is of considerable influence in queer/trans film and performance.
