After five stressful days (four presales and a general sale) we managed to secure five tickets to see System of a Down. Almost failed thanks to dynamic pricing and Ticketmaster glitches but it's our favourite band and our 40th birthday presents to one another so very glad our determination paid off!

Never look a swan in the eye twice...
Nonsense Google AI explanation for a made up idiom. It's says 'The saying "never look a swan in the eye twice" is a metaphorical expression meaning to be wary of being caught in a trap, especially a romantic or social one. It suggests that a second glance might reveal something deceptive or harmful. It's a cautionary phrase about second chances or opportunities that might not be as appealing as they initially seem. '

I'm really excited that we've been awarded funding for a University of Nottingham City as Lab project on food (in)security. More details to follow!

Does anyone have a Korean speaking friend who might be able to help me out with this query on the squirrels and grapes motif in Korean art? Question in image and alt text provided.
Does anyone have a Korean speaking friend who might be able to help me out with this query on the squirrels and grapes motif in Korean art?
I read in a museum definition that the Korean word for ‘squirrel’ sounds like ‘pine’, and the word for ‘grape’ sounds like ‘peach’ and both pine and peach are symbols of longevity so the squirrel and grapes motif stands for good health and a long life. Lovely, but I cannot verify this because this is the best translation of each word that I can find using the usual tools and they don't sound at all similar as far as I can tell.
Pine: 소나무 (sonamu)
Squirrel: 다람쥐 (daramjwi)
Grape: 포도 (podo)
Peach: 복숭아 (boksunga)
Is the translation wrong or is the museum description wrong? Or are they both correct in a way that I can't understand?!An example of the squirrels and grapes motif from the Met Museum https://www.metmuseum.org/art/collection/search/40447

The only thing missing from this place for me so far has been Peep Show memes. Happy to see @dobbyclub06.bsky.social has now arrived to put that right.
A meme with Elon Musk's face superimposed on the Peep Show scene where Sophie tells Hans he might like it in the garden when he turns up uninvited to her party. Caption reads: 'I'll tell you where you might like it, Elon — out in the garden.'

I have played the same starter word every day since I began playing Wordle and yesterday was the day I finally got it in one! What should my new starter word be?

Did I order a Happy Meal for dinner just so I could get a Halloween Squishmallow? Yes... Did I get the exact one I wanted? Also yes! In my defence, I never got a Happy Meal as a kid because they didn't offer a veggie option in those days so I'm making up for it now 😊

Those with student loans who went on to study for postgrad degrees after undergrad, do you know whether this means your outstanding loan is wiped 25 years after you finish your undergrad or 25 years after you were first due to repay (i.e., when you started earning over the threshold for repayment)?
