Please do this! And, to everyone asking: THIS is the sort of thing AGU has the power to do, and could be doing to protect threatened academic depts from state governments and boards, like in Nebraska. AGU has real power to mobilize, so maybe next time it's not just faculty screaming into the void.

Now it's nearly 270 university presidents who have signed onto this "unprecedented government overreach" public letter. It was less than 180 this morning. www.aacu.org/newsroom/a-c... Universities, and judges, taking the lead in standing up.

Seems appropriate for my first post here to be my Stitch Your Science 2024 project! This year’s theme is “Making the Unseen, Seen”. As a geologist, I naturally thought of the seismic shadow! Can’t wait to see the other entries for this year! #StitchYourScience sites.google.com/view/stitchs...
A mini quilt showing the seismic shadow zone from S (blue) and P (pink) waves caused by an earthquake. The different layers of the Earth either refract or stop those waves, leading to a “shadow”. Close up of the mini quilt of the seismic shadow. Picture shows the labels of mantle, outer core, and inner core. The S waves (blue) don’t go through the liquid outer core!Close up of the earthquake shown as a star with the radiating blue S waves and pink P seismic waves
