Leeds have joined the SCONUL UK Open Bibliographic Metadata Group and are working with other institutions on a UK BlueCore instance that will move UK libraries forward to a shared open metadata ecosystem & infrastructure with richer data, better connections, & less duplication of effort #RLUKDSF

BIBFRAME en español began in 2019 when Tim was asked to present a workshop on BIBFRAME in Spanish in Mexico City. More recently native Spanish speakers have come onboard to help develop modular training content with a train-the-trainer ethos. Idea is to remove the language barrier #bfwe2026

What happens when Linked Data stops being a project & becomes the way cataloguers work every day? Maintenance & converting external data is easier but clustering can go wrong when converting from MARC21 Metadata works differently in the new system; cataloguers have to make clear choices #bfwe2026

Restrictions on metadata sharing will be challenging as libraries move to linked open data & connect library data to the open web - technical development is focussed on open metadata 'pools' but the majority of library metadata hasn't been leveraged because it hasn't been asserted as open! #bfwe2026
