Of $2.5 billion of fire relief funds, $0 went to fire victims. $75 million went to the military. $14 million went to pay cops to tear gas civilians who were protesting against ICE. www.nbclosangeles.com/investigatio...

Victims get little relief from Newsom's $2.5 billion fire fund
Most of California’s $2.5-billion fire relief fund is still unspent, according to records, & some money was diverted to CHP at protests.

i don’t know why it happened, but we all know that sex workers and sex work related projects are being penalized and pushed out of financial institutions and services, even when we aren’t using their services for anything sex work-related.

please note that paypal is not the only way to receive the donated funds, and i think we’ll be fine. we also don’t want to make a big deal out of this because it’s a distraction. but this is infuriating.

The minute Church of Harm Reduction (a 501c3 nonprofit tried to use Paypal Giving Fund as a way to accept donations for @aileens.org they permanently ban CHR’s Paypal account. No reason is given.
email at 11;55am today from paypal notifying that church of harm reduction’s paypal account was permanently deactivated.email from paypal is formalistic and didn’t explain why. it says “After a review, we found unusual activity on this account that we can't support.”

The report cautions that actual overdose death rate among American Indians/Alaskan Natives are much higher, though it is hard to know how much. Various data sources count AI/AN differently and they are often miscarried.
chart showing how AI/AN category is researched and analyzed can influence resulting data, suggesting much higher AI/AN overdose deaths than simple reporting indicates

… i also noticed something… anti-trafficking campaigns targeting motels are often promoted by industry groups led by big chain hotels and private equity against small asian, poc, immigrant owned businesses catering to poorer, more poc and immigrant clientele. coincidence?

emi koyama @eminism.org · 30/04/2026
… then why does trafficking sometimes happen in motels? well they happen everywhere including inside your suburban neighbor’s houses. we need to enlist them to help increase access to services and resources. .…

emi koyama @eminism.org · 30/04/2026
… or would traffickers pay them off for special treatment? now we are talking about two dumb economic actors both of which increase risks by doing that. at that point traffickers will use private residence not motels. …
