I ate one in the dark during a midnight hunger pang. It had a really strange texture and it felt like cobwebs in my mouth. Turns out it was infested with pantry moth larvae (not my cupboard). I haven’t been able to eat one since. I feel bad I ate the moth larvae 🐛

Someone was in there! I’ve had Kestrels, Tawny Owls and Jackdaws compete for sites. In one instance, I found a nest box with a 3/4 made Jackdaw nest inside, a wing of an adult male Kestrel, with a female Tawny Owl sitting on top with her two young…

Poorest breeding season on record for Kestrels and owls in #Wiltshire. Most Barn Owls haven’t laid eggs yet due to shortage of food. Many adults are in moult so unlikely to breed this year. Kestrels that have bred are feeding their young with birds, and broods are small 🪺🦉

Golden sunset waves at The Cobb in Lyme Regis. I love it here especially in winter. Turnstones, Rock Pipets and wagtails meander along the harbour wall, stopping now and again to look out to sea.
