Day 12: Choose 20 books that have stayed with you or influenced you. One book per day for 20 days, in no particular order. No explanations, no reviews, just covers. #BookSky #BookChallenge

Book cover of Magic Elizabeth by Norma Kassirer. The cover is a picture of a young girl in a bedroom looking up at a painting hanging over a fireplace of another young girl from an earlier era holding a doll.

Day 13 of no coffee or alcohol. I’ve been tempted quite a few times (95% of the time by Starbucks) but holding strong. Drinking lots of hot tea. Lady Grey, Earl Grey, Constant Comment, Mint, and Orange have been my go to’s this month.

one of my life goals is to be an eccentric writer living in a tasteful boca raton mansion, who throws amazing parties and is known for philanthropy and ridiculousness and style and wit.

I was taking down my Christmas tree last night and the needles were everywhere !! I started singing to my friend on the phone with improv’d lyrics Oh Christmas tree oh Christmas tree What a terrible mess you’ve left me Oh Christmas tree oh Christmas tree Cleaning you up will be pure misery

My friend in #Altadena lost basically everything. She and her family and her pets are safe, but her childhood home where she grew up, all her and her family's belongings are gone. If you can't donate, could you share to get more eyes on this? ♥️ www.gofundme.com/f/help-folkv...

Listen, my state may be on fire right now, but I’m still Californian so I will have my avocado toast:

My uncle who lives in northwest LA county went to his oncologist appt today. Said he could see lots of smoke from the Hurst fire but “traffic was good though.” I have never personally been to LA, but I feel like that is an extremely LA thing to say lol #lafires #hurstfire

Also I don’t understand directions. THEY are west of the fires in western LA county.

Stayed up until almost 2am because I finally heard about the LA fires and I was trying to track if they were close to my aunt and uncle there. It was about 12 miles SW of them when I fell asleep. Woke up to discover a third fire has started 10 miles NW of them. #lafires

I may go off on the odd political rant (I’m very left - see bio) but 95% of what I want to do on here is connect with people who like: - cozy - books - food - nature - slowing down - sustainability - mindfulness - hygge

So many difficult things happened over the past year! I cried so much, I felt like a shell of a person, I picked up shattered pieces of myself to recreate my identity But you know what? Now I actually finally really truly like myself in a way I never have before. And that’s kind of wonderful 😏

Thinking about what I want my life to be after a year of immense change - quiet vs busy - nurturing (me, my home, my people - in that order) - thoughtful vs reactionary - investing time in my interests (writing, ice skating, reading, cooking) - mindfulness - local practical activism #resolutions

Friends, remember that ✨distraction✨ is our biggest threat. We want healthcare, fair wages, affordable housing, walkable cities, accessible/reliable public transport, etc Every time something pops up for us to discuss instead - especially anything divisive - ask who benefits from the distraction
