Several of the hubei turquoise I ordered really need to be backed before they can be set, so with audacity, YouTube, and JB Weld I’m gonna give it a shot

I gave myself half an hour this morning and got the star blanks cut and the speech bubble stamped and cut. I’m going to refine the bubble so it fits a bit better before soldering, but it was exactly what the design needed! #silversmith #metalwork

Another thing I thought of (that might not work) - I know there’s kiln-safe wire. Maybe you could loop them such that it holds the ceramic dish and is adjustable on the other end. It’d be a bit more thematically matched, and the wire could be bent into a ring shape after firing?

If you have access to a ring mandrel, you could make an assortment of sizes. If the concern is doing multiple sizes, I do kind of hate adjustable rings, but that would still work. Would open ceramic rings be possible? Like C-shaped?
