I'm glad you say so, that is reassuring! I wanted to make it very intentionally uncomfortable. I think making the eyes look dead / animalistic / difficult to read helps alot in making it feel uncanny.

Image created by Kent Bellows for a November 1975 Rolling Stone article on Philip K. Dick; he sits in an armchair, shirt open and yin-yang medallion on display, while a tentacled horror creeps in his window and wraps a tendril around his giant reinforced filing cabinet (memorably "blown apart" in 1971). Despite this image being made in 1975, it looks remarkably like modern AI.

I feel like people forget that the purpose of conversation isn't to convert someone to think exactly like you do. Conversation is a learning tool. There is value in trying to have genuine conversations even if you disagree with someone.

Conversation allows for seeing different perspectives, understanding your own beliefs and others more thoroughly. But when people are obsessed with shutting others down, or just "winning" there is nothing to learn or gain.

In general I don't like any community that has this insane expectation on you to think the exact same like everyone else. I feel alot better being in communities that have the maturity to go "we don't agree with everything, but i'll still have polite conversation with you". Feels alot less stressful

"You disagree with the hivemind, you must be ___PHOBIC." Incredible. A community that uses peer pressure, guilt tripping, and fear! Haven't heard that one before. So fucking cult-ish. A healthy community doesn't shut people down, it encourages conversation.

If a community gets on your ass for having any sort of constructive criticism maybe it is a massive red flag. I am too autistic to be brainwashed into a hivemind.

Like for the record I am part of the LGBTQ+ community too but I honestly do feel like some people in the community are overly sensitive or just have very regressive views. It becomes so extreme that it just 180's into bullshit controlling beliefs that we tried to get away from.

🛸 @embryonikz.bsky.social · 18/05/2025
LGBTQ+ community will be like, "people can't choose their sexuality you just have to respect it" until they meet a person who won't specifically date them like. Dude. Come on.

🛸 @embryonikz.bsky.social · 18/05/2025
Idk maybe it is easier for me because I actually am severely uncomfortable with having people attracted to me but having someone not attracted to you isn't the end of the world. You have BILLIONS of other people out there, why is it that some people not dating you the hill you choose to die on.

🛸 @embryonikz.bsky.social · 18/05/2025
I have seen people say "If you don't date me that means you want [insert identity here] to DIE and you support GENOCIDE" bro. This incel ass nonsense. You are not immune to being a lame ass incel, get over it you will feel happier.
020
🛸 @embryonikz.bsky.social · 18/05/2025
Literally same logic with dating. Maybe a person relates better, feels more comfortable, or simply just prefers it. Why does who someone date have to be some political issue when it shouldn't be at all. It is their business, not yours.
120
🛸 @embryonikz.bsky.social · 18/05/2025
Like it is the same thing with how we choose friendships too. Does not working out as friends mean they hate you? No. Sometimes people just DONT CLICK and that's OK. I usually have friends who have been through some sort of trauma because I click better with them, it doesn't mean I hate others.
110
🛸 @embryonikz.bsky.social · 18/05/2025
"But it might mean they're transphobic / racist / etc.!" or maybe their dating preference is completely separate from their belief system. Maybe the problem isn't with them, its with people trying to force people into dating people they are not attracted to.
110
🛸 @embryonikz.bsky.social · 18/05/2025
Tbh I am really tired of people treating dating preference (often something people have no control over) as a dictator for moral code. I feel like people end up vomiting out the same nonsense shut-in incels do because they can't handle the fact someone might not date them.

I forget what it is called but it is related to Mr. Bungle, but there is this book that showcases artwork of clowns going to kid parties, but in reality its just a drunken older man who is fed up with his job. It tears down the whimsical expectations of it, and slaps you with a very adult reality.

Todd Schorr's art comes to mind. It is so skillfully made and even if it is humorous and "what the fuck!?" I really like it. I kind of like embracing this idea that humanity is full of itself and in truth we have to be reminded we're a bunch of dumbasses.

🛸 @embryonikz.bsky.social · 17/05/2025
I always felt like my artwork was most authentic when I wanted to make something look very intentionally like this essence of stupid dumbassery. Cyriak has great art that exudes this vibe in my opinion. Some other american surrealist artists do as well.

I guess also I would really like to try making artwork that puts into question certain things we feel are normal in modern society. For example, porn being a very dehumanizing medium towards women. I'm not sure how i'd pull it off but it is something that matters to me.

Like in terms of "offensive" this could be interpreted in alot of ways but i'm mostly thinking of like acne pimples, hairy people, gross unclean unkept people. Kind of like the essence of shitpost artwork I just think it is fun, I know not everyone likes it though LOL.

🛸 @embryonikz.bsky.social · 17/05/2025
I want to make stupid art, offensive art, grotesque art, shocking art. I really want to go in a direction that is more authentic to myself. I don't think i'll be satisfied if I am always concerned with pleasing everyone.

🛸 @embryonikz.bsky.social · 17/05/2025
To make influential art one must be willing to take the risk to potentially offend people. Again, vague statement so it could be taken out of context, but it is something on my mind. It reminds me of elephants tied to a pole, they're trained to not believe in themselves. I see that in myself.

I find it strange in some communities eroguro or torture porn is treated like its just this "normal" thing but in reality if the sexes were switched in the situation, I feel alot of people would be talking about how concerning it is.
130
🛸 @embryonikz.bsky.social · 17/05/2025
If you have had any exposure to porn its easy to find how many "kinks" revolve around torture, abuse, rape, cheating- and even some going as far as cutting women apart. Women have always been treated as less than human escpecially in porn. But this is not really seen with men.
140
🛸 @embryonikz.bsky.social · 17/05/2025
When reading about the comic reviews for "Homicidal Lesbian Terrorist" alot of men seemed to mention their discomfort of the portrayal of dicks being cut off and it is something I kept in mind and I honestly feel it has this strange irony to it.

I'm glad someone else can explain it so well.. I really really want to make artwork expressing my feelings with sexual trauma and how dehumanization effects people. It is just really difficult when considering alot of people will get horny over literally anything.

I feel like something I didn't realize until I read about it is that most men don't empathize with sexual horror, and most have sadistic views. You can make content trying to express your fears only for it to be used as jack off material by a non-empathizing sadist.

Anyone who uses rape as a threat should be a immediate red flag. I don't know why people excuse it just because someone might have a identity part of the lgbtq+ or minority. If someone uses rape as a threat it is not a excuse under any circumstances, whoever it is.

I believe misogyny and sexism is still extremely prevalent and I am really tired of pretending it is not. Even in "safe spaces" or lgtbq+ communities, there is hateful and controlling people and everyone wants to pretend like it doesn't exist.

I feel like what is shown in porn has set alot of insane expectations on me as well growing up. I feel like, there is barely any lesbian representation from the female gaze. I think for a long time I thought I was supposed to transition if I wanted to please a woman. It's fucked up.

I feel like anyone should be able to understand, representation gives you confidence. It helps you realize you can live out the life you want to, that you don't need to be confined to a certain set of rules. And I was told to shut up and die over it.

i know not every trans person likes the terms "afab and amab" and i feel that should be respected depending on what the person prefers, but I feel like being a afab person is apart of my identity. I don't know why I should be shamed for it.

i still think it was insanely messed up that i recieved harassment for requesting to find music artists with my identity as a afab person. for a community that talks about inclusivity they excluded me. i was told i was a bad person for wanting representation.
