The most powerful lore explanation you can ever produce is "don't worry about it"

An illustration featuring two viera characters from FFXIV. In the background one of the viera is staring down at the other with a desperate and hungry look in his eye. His eye is the only thing you can see on his face, the rest is obscured completely. There is a ribcage across his chest with black viscous liquid falling over it. In the foreground the second viera is floating in front of Hydaelyn's crystal, featureless.

Out flew the web and floated wide; The mirror crack'd from side to side; 'The curse is come upon me,' cried The Lady of Shalott.

Ryne looks at the viewer (Thancred) eyes wide and haunted. Her pink ribbon lies loose and tangled beneath her arms. The mirror, cracked, shows Thancred standing, eyes shaded. Other cracks show Fatebreaker.

i will do more thinking one day

010

funny @elysium.pet · 24/03/2026

asa as a person has like firm expectations of people and gets frustrated when they aren't met

110

funny @elysium.pet · 24/03/2026

i thiiiink.. i would have to do a deepread for more evidence but i do believe asa might ultimately represent the reader more than she is meant to be a real character. which i do actually not entirely enjoy and would be a criticism to me cuz i have never really been a fan of that sort of writing

110

funny @elysium.pet · 24/03/2026

thinking about it more csm has always been written in the framing of watching a movie in which there is a central subject (denji) from whom the story is presented from the perspective of mainly diegetic with flashes of context scenes/frames. the ending is the exact same as how part 1 was written

110

funny @elysium.pet · 24/03/2026

just my thoughts anyways will your world have bad movies

010

funny @elysium.pet · 24/03/2026

csm has kind of always been "denji ft. other people who he doesn't even actually know how to connect to" which is why i hope there's spinoffs one day

130

funny @elysium.pet · 24/03/2026

thematically i've never seen the other character's stories as ever being integral to csm for a reason. which is why they were all left unanswered. which i do concede makes it less appealing to a generation that is raised on fulfilling narratives and artificially prolonging the lifetime of stories

130

funny @elysium.pet · 24/03/2026

i think begging for loose ends to be tied up makes sense on the level for reader enjoyment but narratively i do think this was good for sticking to the themes of chainsaw man in which having a boring life is a privilege

funny @elysium.pet · 24/03/2026

you are obviously free to disagree i don't think there's a wrong opinion here and i do think fujimoto's burnout was really obvious near the end but while i won't say it was a masterpiece it was like. thumbs up

140

funny @elysium.pet · 24/03/2026

no other thoughts cuz i don't want to spoil anyone unintentionally but it is good to me

130

funny @elysium.pet · 24/03/2026

i think my csm ending opinion might be controversial but i think it was good and leaves room for more to be done in the setting. im trying to approach it critically and not as an audience member though
