Headbanging Kara Zor-el
Alt: **SPOILERS**
it's so obvious why certain demographic didn't like this one. a girl who's in her lowest, whose life does not revolve around a man, is not sexualized, and is also hunting down and killing pedophile traffickers??? yeah right.
yes, i do agree that the movie has many flaws and why some changes from the book affected a lot, but men have had action movies with cool vibes and perfectly average plot, so why suddenly female superhero movies need to be perfect all the time? i also saw some reviews about how the villain is not memorable but why would her first film ever feature a high level villain when the average person thinks she's just a female version of superman in the first place. this was to set up why she's so different to clark and how her motivations works; she didn't went after krem because it was her duty, not even to help ruthye, she went after him to save krypto, the most important thing for her and her only. and i hardly disagree that he's not memorable, because it's the same case as dreykov from black widow; a realistic depiction of threats towards women are not considered as a real threat by men, so there's that.
finally, the most important thing: Milly Alcock. she's absolutely amazing and literally perfect for Kara. i can't imagine anyone else playing her, so that's the best casting from this year for me. the way she gives a very raw and emotional performance is everything, i'm really excited to see her again and again, alongside with my baby krypto <3
