Yes, I should have unwrapped the burger and checked it, but I just wanted to get home and didn’t even think about it. They did give me some coupons when I filled out their survey but figuring out how to use a coupon for a drive through only place makes my brain explode so I won’t ever use them.

After my meltdown in the car, I realized that I hadn’t really eaten anything all day because I had been so upset about my class. I knew that being hungry was not helling anything, so i decided to have a special treat and run through the drive through of our local favorite fast food joint.

The teacher did a whole or of teaching but zero checking in to see how anyone was doing, which in my experience is not the best way to teach hands on skills. There wasn’t even a place to interrupt to ask for help because the teacher was so busy moving everyone forward.

It did not go well. My bottom up processing brain couldn’t get the first step of the first trick and by the time everyone else was four steps in and I still hadn’t managed step one I was about to cry. When the teacher said “get in a circle” I ran out of the room and melted down in the parking lot.

And tonight I was registered for a one night magic class. Magic is a weird little side quest interest of mine so I was excited enough about it that I pulled myself together, put on my favorite Godzilla print dress and drove to the other side of town for the class.

As of now, nobody has signed up so I am assuming it’s toast. And since the class didn’t make this year, I expect that it will not be offered again. There is some very real grief associated with that because teaching is part of my identity.

This is a huge hit financially, but also a blow in so many other ways. I love working with students and that class brings me so much joy as they learn new skills and gain confidence. The class also gives my life structure that I need as an autistic person who thrives on routine.

My Jean-Ralphio was so bad about getting in the recycling trash can that I bought one with a lid so now he just sits on top of it.

Just an update that I am recovering quickly and feel great. Still a little tired from a night of no sleep but very happy with the results of the procedure and looking forward to the next big milestone of being able to drive again on Saturday. All of the well wishes were so lovely and I’m grateful!

The thing is that the brain fog from general anesthetia and being exhausted can make reading difficult. I find it really sad that a cat person would be so unsympathetic. But because I bear no ill will, here is a picture of my cats curled up beside me when i settled in to a nap this afternoon.

Four cats all spooned together in a row by their mom who is napping. One of the orange cats is wearing a Buccees t-shirt because it keeps him from itching himself too badly when he has allergy attacks.

Had a little medical procedure today that has me in the hospital overnight. Everything went well and I should be fixed. But the hospital is boring and I can’t sleep, however listening to @hcrichardson.bsky.social talk about politics is like having a friend in my room with me, and that is lovely.

I can’t go to my city’s big protest, so I made The World’s Tiniest No Kings Protest at my #littlefreelibrary. It is angry, hopeful and maybe even adorable. #nokings #resist

I am a disabled person who has built a successful business so that I don’t have to apply for disability. I just got notice that my ACA health insurance plan is going to increase by $700 a month next year, for a policy with a $7500 deductible. I have no idea how I’m going to find that kind of $$.
