[Book Spoiler Alert] We have some ideas about this in our potential list of inquiries for #LaVBeyond #literacies

[Book Spoiler Alert] We actually tap into that engagement with gaming in Chapter 7, through Taty's account of being a #gamermom #literacies

Equally important here is how second-language English users in gaming spaces are not just "speaking" the language, but reclaiming it for themselves. #literacies

022

Raúl Alberto Mora, Ph.D. (Dr. Berry) [él|he|han|ele|il|on] @elpatronhimself.bsky.social · 24/02/2026

I think one of the key elements here is the possibilities for language reinvention that happen in these "zero gravity" spaces! Gamers as second-language users mold the language in increasingly creative ways, for example. #literacies

Raúl Alberto Mora, Ph.D. (Dr. Berry) [él|he|han|ele|il|on] @elpatronhimself.bsky.social · 24/02/2026

Sure thing! [Book Spoiler: we say a little more in Chapter 1] - The very definition of victory moved from "winning" to "staying engaged over time". We carried that one through the rest of our research and right now, with our new teams, we're remixing that definition.

120

Raúl Alberto Mora, Ph.D. (Dr. Berry) [él|he|han|ele|il|on] @elpatronhimself.bsky.social · 24/02/2026

Right! In my case, it meant meeting my team halfway through. I wasn't imposing the methods, I was listening to my gamers and together we pieced it together! #literacies

141

Raúl Alberto Mora, Ph.D. (Dr. Berry) [él|he|han|ele|il|on] @elpatronhimself.bsky.social · 24/02/2026

In our case, the very definition of victory has evolved, based on what every gamer that has entered our project brings to the table. So, just bring it to the Round Table and let your Knights decide with you! #literacies

And about my gaming experience: it all started sometime around 1983 with an Atari 2600, playing Asteroids, Space Invaders... and E.T. - These days, mostly playing MK11 and doing wild reserach with #TeamLaV #literacies

About that, one of my professors in grad school told me one that "the week cannot last seven days" - I've turned that into a mantra as a professor so I can always have time off to regroup #literacies

A2: Well, there's my #WorldwideAcademicFam, good friends all over who remind me I'm not alone (even if in a different time zone); there's also my gremlins and my partner; and of course the awesome folks who are part of my Legion! #literacies

A1 - Thinking of this break, I intend to continue going to the gym, enjoy some family time, lots of walks while there's daylight in Trondheim, and finish a Japa Mala I've been thinking about threading. #literacies

Just saw this post on Facebook... and I thought that this is an interesting case study for the translanguaging, #literacies and multilingualism crew... What should the grade really be, 2/5 or 5/5? Let me hear your thoughts, #WorldwideAcademicFam!

Indeed... on and btw, we've been mentioning your work a lot in my lab recently. Some of my student are exploring playful literacies in their work and our projects!

Oh, I SO needed this moment! Cup is full and I'm so glad I reconnected with the #literacies community across the time zones! Totally worth staying up till 2:00 am! Thank you all for the life boost that this chat became!

Anything we can do to rebuild and reload our #literacies community is welcome. We need to disrupt the siloes and traverse time zones and geographies!

A6: I think a renewed vision of #globalliteracies will need to be part of the future(s) of our field. We have the human and technical tools to get there, so let's get to work! #literacies

Here's a very selfish one: Can we diversify the time zones? This is my first #literacies chat in 4 years!!!!! And I miss the connections, sometimes isolation across time zones hits hard, let me tell you!

Raúl Alberto Mora, Ph.D. (Dr. Berry) [él|he|han|ele|il|on] @elpatronhimself.bsky.social · 29/10/2025

As someone whose career is basically a Venn Diagram, I totally resonate with this idea, Betina!!!! #literacies
