* IMPACTS...Minor flooding is occurring on area roads which has lead
to road closures. Walking paths and parks located between the Rio
Grande levees will be inundated.

- At 6:05 AM MDT Thursday the stage was 9.4 feet.
- Bankfull stage is 7.5 feet.
- Recent Activity...The maximum river stage in the 24 hours ending
at 6:05 AM MDT Thursday was 9.7 feet. The river will continue to
slowly recede through the next few days.
- Forecast...The river is expected to fall below flood stage this
evening and continue falling to 3.4 feet Monday evening.
- Flood stage is 8.5 feet.
- Flood History...This crest compares to a previous crest of 9.3

The Rio Grande between Rincon Arroyo and Leasburg Diversion Dam...
and Rincon Arroyo near Rincon.

* Until 130 AM MDT.

* At 1111 PM MDT, Water levels on the Rio Grande at Hayner's Bridge
continue to slowly drop. But flooding is still likely occurring
north of Leasburg Dam. Water levels are also continuing to drop at
Rincon Arroyo.

HAZARD...Flash flooding caused by heavy rain.

SOURCE...Gauges reported.

IMPACT...Flash flooding of small creeks and streams, urban areas,
highways, streets and underpasses as well as other poor
drainage and low-lying areas.

* Some locations that will experience flash flooding include...
Rincon, Peaceful Valley, Selden Canyon, Rinconcito, and Radium
Springs north of Leasburg Dam.

The Rio Grande at Hayner's Bridge crested at 10.87 feet, with a flow
of 6,307 cfs, at 730 PM. It has since dropped to 10.17 feet and a
flow of 5,434 cfs as of 11 PM.

River levels continue to slowly rise at Leasburg Dam, but no flooding
is anticipated south of Leasburg due to levee protection, and higher
ground along the right bank.

- At 1030 PM MDT, Moderate to occasionally heavy rainfall continues
to move across Otero County. Flooding is likely in poor drainage
areas across the county. Minor flooding is also likely in all
arroyos and low water crossings.
- This warning replaces several Flash Flood Warnings in the
Tularosa Basin area as rainfall rates have subsided. Flash Flood
Warnings will be issued for more localized areas of serious flash

At 847 PM MDT, flooding continues on the Rio Grande, and water is
beginning to recede on Rincon Arroyo. A band of moderate to briefly
heavy rain showers is moving through the area, but will not likely
exacerbate flooding to a significant degree.

HAZARD...Flash flooding caused by heavy rain and runoff.

SOURCE...Gauges reported.

IMPACT...Flooding on the Rio Grande and side arroyos.

Some locations that will experience flash flooding include...
Rincon, Peaceful Valley, Rinconcito, Selden Canyon, and low lying
areas just above Leasburg Dam.

River gauges show the Rincon Arroyo has dropped by about 1.5 feet
since 8 PM. The Rio Grande crested at 10.87 feet or 6300 cfs at
Hayners Bridge below Rincon at 7:32 PM, but has only dropped by a few
inches since then. The river continues to rise slowly at Leasburg.
Flooding is not anticipated south of Leasburg due to levee
protection.

* At 410 PM MDT, Torrential rain showers have been moving north
across the lower Mesilla Valley, the west slopes of the Franklin
Mountains, and portions of the far southern Tularosa Basin. The
heaviest rainfall has been just east of Berino, Anthony, Vinton,
and Canutillo.

HAZARD...Flash flooding caused by thunderstorms.

IMPACT...Flash flooding of arroyos, urban areas, highways, streets
and underpasses as well as other poor drainage and
low-lying areas.

* Some locations that will experience flash flooding include...

Arroyos and low water crossings in Franklin Mountains State Park may

* Until 645 PM MDT.

* At 352 PM MDT, Doppler radar and automated rain gauges indicated
thunderstorms with torrential rainfall over parts of the southern
Sacramento Mountains. Rainfall rates of 2 to 3 inches per hour have
been observed. The heaviest rainfall has been in the area of Bug
Scuffle to near Sacramento Lake South of Sunspot, and at the head
of Hay Canyon and Agua Chiquita Creek.

HAZARD...Flash flooding caused by thunderstorms.

IMPACT...Flash flooding of small creeks and streams, roads, as well
as other poor drainage and low-lying areas.

* Some locations that will experience flash flooding include...
Timberon, Sacramento, Sunspot, Mayhill, Weed, Hay Canyon, Cox
Canyon, Benson Ridge, Miller Flats, McDonald Flats and Lower Dry
Burnt Canyon.

Flooding is likely to occur on the Sacramento River in and near
Timberon, and Agua Chiquita Creek above Sacramento.

* WHAT...Flooding caused by excessive rainfall is expected.

* WHERE...Eastern Sierra County in south central New Mexico...

* WHEN...Until 800 PM MDT.

* IMPACTS...Arroyos and washes continue to rise due to excess runoff
from earlier rainfall. Low-water crossings are inundated with water
and may not be passable. Expect many areas of slow moving or
standing water.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...
- At 359 PM MDT, A broad area of moderate to locally heavy rainfall
continues to lift across the region. Expect flooding to continue
into the evening hours. Urban flooding in poor drainage areas,
and widespread flooding of low lying areas in the Jornada del
Muerto can be expected.
- This replaces the Flash Flood Warning that was set to expire at 4
PM.
- Some locations that will experience flooding include...
Upham, Cuchillo, Truth or Consequences, Engle, Cutter, City of
