and (briefly) David Wojnarowicz to make sense of the aspect doctrine of adherence, domination, and enclosure! Joey is one of my favorite thought partners in bringing together queer art and astrology and this was such a fun conversation!

What do BDSM and ancient aspect theory have in common? A lot it turns out! I was joined by the brilliant astrologer Joey Cannizzaro to unpack about this queer overlap in language. We look at the charts of artists Bob Flanagan, Samuel Delany, Kathy Acker,

We need relationships that feel real and alive, relationships that create space for the imaginal, for knowing and understanding that other worlds are possible. The Living Room Archive has been a long time coming and I’m so excited that it’s almost time to share it with you all!

Elly Higgins Astrology @ellyhigginsastro.bsky.social · 08/06/2026

In the age of social media en-shittification, AI-slop, and active policing and censorship of queer people and history, we need spaces where we can actually connect.

120

Elly Higgins Astrology @ellyhigginsastro.bsky.social · 08/06/2026

We become more connected, we feel more alive, and we learn something new (hopefully many things!). The Living Room Archive is an online forum and live monthly meet-up where we get to do exactly that!

Star Gays Invites You To: THE LIVING ROOM ARCHIVE What becomes possible when we look at queer art and astrology together? What about when we do it with each other, in community?

We talk about planets in domicile and what that means for Mapplethorpe’s relentlessness pursuit of his art! Plus for the first time ever, patrons of Star Gays are getting their own exclusive post with a deep dive into the decans of Scorpio and how that plays out in Mapplethorpe’s life.

Elly Higgins Astrology @ellyhigginsastro.bsky.social · 19/11/2025

His portraits embody an incredible intimacy and depth, showcasing some of the best that Scorpio has to offer. But not to worry, being ruled by Mars meant he also got into some hot water (some deserved, some puritanical).

New Star Gays just dropped! 🦂🦂🦂🫡🫡🫡 For Scorpio season we’re diving into the chart of maybe the most Scorpio to ever Scorpio: Robert Mapplethorpe. With his Ascendant, Sun, Mars, and Jupiter all in Scorpio, Mapplethorpe was singularly focused on crafting the perfect portrait.

Cover photo for Star Gays: The QueerAstrology Archives Project, Scorpio: Robert Mapplethorpe.
Blue background, with yellow and light blue text. In the center is a self portrait of Mapplethorpe, he is starting directly into the camera and holding a staff that has a skull on it.

Early drawings and collages by Mapplethorpe, featuring religious imagery, renaissance style figures, hearts and skulls. Mostly black and white with some red and yellow

Four black and white portraits of Lisa Lyon (top right), two men in leather/BDSM gear (top left), patti smith (bottom right), iggy pop (bottom left).
All four have the subject looking back into the camera

Four self portraits of Mapplethorpe, in one he holds a knife and looks suspicious, in another he has a cigarette in his mouth, the third he’s dressed in makeup and furs, the fourth he’s in a bathrobe. In all four he states back at the camera

The only reason someone should change their name (first and last) is because they found a better name that suits them! Marriage is no longer relevant to names. Also, abolish marriage (but like y'all aren't ready for THAT conversation)

We’ll use the wisdom of Jupiter in Cancer which guides us to gather and reflect each other’s light. We’ll use the wisdom of tensegrity models which teach us how to be both stable and adaptable. We’ll use our collective wisdom because we’ve all experienced two+ years of Saturn in Pisces already.

Let’s make this a regular thing! Tensegrity: A Saturn in Pisces Support Circle will meet 2 times a month for the duration of Saturn’s final trip through Pisces. This is an online, interactive support space.

Text reads: that’s a lot of potential for productive reflection but oh my god is it TENDER and BRUTAL to be connected to te world right now.
Jupiter in the sign of the moon offers an opportunity to gain wisdom through gathering and reflecting out light back to each other

What is tensegrity? Tension + integrity
Structures held together by compression through a network of continuous tension

TENSEGRITY allows for both stability and adaptability because of the ways it is interconnected making it a great symbol for Saturn in Pisces
What can we learn from TENSEGRITY models to guide us though this time

Libras it’s time for your solar return check up - the planet that rules your Sun has been in rough shape all season (in fall, with the South Node, opposing Saturn!) so if you’re feeling drained and frumpy - you’re right on time. Let’s talk about what that might mean for your year ahead.
