I’m recruiting for my Masters research! I would so appreciate it if local folks could help me get the word out. (I did change the age down to 1st grade and I’m now open to kids in private school or homeschool, but didn’t get a chance to update the flyer.)
Seeking Research Participants!
Utilizing the Silver Drawing Test (SDT) with Autistic Students
Are you the parent of a school-age autistic child?
Your child may be eligible to participate in a research study exploring whether an art therapy assessment, called the Silver Drawing Test, can serve as a strengths-based tool to assess cognitive and emotional functioning in children diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder.
Eligibility Criteria: Enrolled in Grades 2-6 (ages 7-12) at a Public or Approved Private School and Diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder
After an initial screening interview with the parent/guardian, the study visit will take place at Radnor Memorial Library in Wayne, PA. During this visit, participating children will complete the Silver Drawing Test-Draw a Story assessment, which will take approximately 30-45 minutes. All participating children will receive a sensory toy.
For more information, contact Elliot Mumma at emumma@pratt.edu or fill out the interest form at http://forms.gle/PvRkevmnf4APEUBy8
(This research is being conducted as part of graduate thesis research in Creative Arts Therapy at Pratt Institute. It is not sponsored by Radnor Memorial Library. Access to meeting rooms is a service of Radnor Memorial Library.)

With RFK Jr again further reducing access to vaccines, your regular reminder that now would be a good time to restart wearing a high quality mask regularly again for an added layer of protection from airborne diseases.

I destroyed my ankle last week and I met with the orthopedic surgeon yesterday. I’m supposed to elevate my foot as much as possible with “toes above nose,” but I keep saying “toes before hoes” instead to my partner because I think it’s funnier

Let’s make listening to media out loud on your phone in the waiting room (at least at adult doctors’ offices) socially unacceptable again.

I’m a current Art Therapy graduate student at Pratt. I think I had a somewhat unique research course. I’m utterly too tired to write anything that makes sense right now so I’m commenting as a reminder to myself to respond later in more depth.

We need to teach people the difference between being uncomfortable and being unsafe. Because the discomfort of the safest people is endangering the most vulnerable, all day every day.

In light of everything happening, I wrote about how the KKK in the 1920s felt unstoppable, about the people that fought against them anyway, and about how fascism always fails. dansinker.com/posts/202…

I don’t have Signal, but I would be interested. I have Medicaid as a secondary insurance but I’m also on a Waiver, which allows me to receive supports for my autism.

This! My mom had such a hard time getting me an ADHD diagnosis as a kid because I did well at school. I have pretty severe ADHD, but I experienced restraint collapse.

You can take the kid out of the classical music concert but you can’t take the classical concert etiquette out of the kid.

The notion that the government is full of waste has been brought to you by some of the wealthiest corporations on earth, each of which see their own workers as a wasteful expenditure. If they could fire everyone who makes them money, they would. Capitalism is a leopard that will eat its own face.

You might have missed it, but Amazon warehouse workers in Raleigh, NC are voting this week on whether to form a union. If they win, they'll be the first unionized Amazon facility in the South. Remember that we can always find hope in the labor movement.

if you can't do 3 or 4 days of rapid fire shit from the admin without collapsing/withdrawing, maybe you need to stop trying to mentally solve for The World and tighten your scope a little bit. Are you texting your friends? Are you reading a book? Do you have a sensory soothe in place? Tea is nice.

When you feel yourself becoming complacent or surrendering to hopelessness or apathy, remember that everything that exists today exists because someone(s) dreamt it up and decided to put in the work to make it a reality. We can create new ways of doing things, new ways of being, new worlds.

I really truly deeply blame the EDS Society for this. They have focused so solely on a vague concept of awareness (that is quite surface level) without any real investment in scaling/improving patient care

If you’re the kind of person who easily forgets what you’ve accomplished, you need a practice for reminding yourself. Count the years, the finished projects, the progress, the praise, count it all up and use it as evidence against the ever present criticism in your head that you’re not doing enough.
