As an LCSW in private practice this seems spot on. Unfortunately, many people who are highly sensitive learned in childhood that their sensitivity was the problem and they just had to toughen up. Oh, if it were only that simple.

Personally, I feel completely powerless. The tide will not turn until there is a mass swell of people making noise on multiple fronts (reaching out to elected officials, coming to protests, boycotts, etc.)--and if a sizable portion of those people are part of the Republican base.

It genuinely hurts my earnest Gen X heart that organizations such as Fox News not only allow their guests to lie, but also don't make any effort whatsoever to offer context or correct misinformation. Aren't there journalistic ethical codes that news organizations are required to follow?

A humble query for anyone who knows how to do stuff right: I made this stone 'river' in the yard a few years ago, but can't ever seem to finish it because it needs a lot of maintenance. The issue is that the rocks get knocked loose quite easily, even when set in grout.

This is NOT an exaggeration--healthcare costs can send a family into financial ruin. Right now, Medicaid provides one last protective layer for those who work, and yet, shocker, can't afford healthcare.

The terrifying & shrewd assessment seems to be that people who are suffering can be manipulated and exploited and will remain powerless--but only as you keep them in a position of powerlessness.

There is a discrepancy between what people believe a promise means and what it really means. This is all a long con, and it will be exposed sooner or later. The sad thing is that people who are vulnerable will suffer and find themselves powerless.

I think it depends who is "they". In reality, the coalition around Trump is not 100% homogeneous, and I hope Democratic "thought leaders" (gross) are paying attention to that.

100%. There are quite a lot of groups (issue-focused) that are active and growing, even if they have different areas of focus. It seems like some formal alliances around a common goal could really create a groundswell and that sort of impact. Sounds like a hashtag. #boycottsworkifweareunited
