This #kidlitpostcard day, I am sharing a scene based on my childhood with a dad who flew 2 and 4 seater planes and let my sister and I take control of the steering and "fly" from when we were very young. His trusty dog, Jaws, flew many trips too. #kidlit #childrensillustration #pilot #kidlitart

Finding a friendly snake! Spotted Bush Snakes are harmless and quite cute. They are active in the day, hunt for geckos and are plentiful in bushy areas of KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa. And in my garden. #kidlit #kidlitart #naturalhistory #nonfictionillustration #nonfiction #snakes

My entries for the #picturehooks prompt "What's Inside?". In my hometown, Durban, South Africa, Vervet monkeys are incredibly common and will steal food and random stuff from your house, or while you are unpacking groceries from your car. This monkey was very disappointed in his loot. #kidlitart

First prompt for #theimaginedbookcover2024. Story idea: The King places an order for a new crocodile to guard his castle. The croc he is sent, turns out not to be very brave at all & not good at his job. The King has to decide whether he will keep him or send him back. #kidlitart #kidlit #bookcover

Childhood memories illustrated. I remember getting up to go to the loo in our beach cottage one night and seeing a giant rat saunter past! The cottage was unoccupied most of the year. Rats and cockroaches were just part of the holiday experience. #kidlitart #childrensillustration #kidlit

Part of a spread from a bedtime story I have written but am still refining, making the dummy book and some colour art for. This book has been brewing slowly for ages and hopefully this will be the year it sees the light of day.

I posted this on Insta at the end of Dec.. Super proud of how far I have come from just having the dream of illustrating picture books a few years back. Most of these are with self-publishing authors and one is with a small local publisher (thank you all!). Next step - find an agent to help me grow.
