Been working on illustration stuff outside of the kidlit world and almost forgot it was #kidlitartpostcard day once again. Here’s a recent piece created with crayons, charcoals & water color pencils, and colored in photoshop. #scarystories #horror 🌐: ESprints.com IG: @elizabethsavanella

This is not normally the type of work I do but I just looked at my folder of fan art pieces I’ve made in the last few years and thought I’d share anyway because I legit loved doing these. I kind of love how many of them are #muppets.

Felt like painting something tiny for nothing but my own enjoyment. So what better subject than #fanart of the incomparable #misspiggy …with a #hauntedmansion #mashup I went to Disney World a few weeks ago and this is what’s on my mind 🙂

This is what I've been up to lately. After a loooong period of burnout I'm making new stuff in a new way and it feels exciting again.

@kidlitart.bsky.social I haven't posted in SO long but I'm still here. I recently did an illustration mentorship & from that I'm working to redo my ENTIRE portfolio. It's scary but I'm burning it to the ground & starting over to show my human touch because I refuse to let impending AI doom stop me.

ICYMI, the June 4th #KidLitArtPostcard event marks the 5th anniversary. I'm suggesting a theme for our illustrations: You, as a kid. Learn more about the event here: www.ginaperry.com/postcard #kidlit (We still have a May 7th event too!)

Promotion image by Gina Perry. Text reads: 5 years of KidLitArtPostcard, June 4th. Theme: You, as a Kid! Illustration in the center shows a child running with a mailbag, holding and losing postcards in bright colors. The kid is wearing a striped party hat.

I’ve been stepping back and experimenting lately. Not sure where I’m going yet but in having fun getting there. I drew this with charcoal, and painted and animated it on photoshop. #illustration #motiondesign #selfcare #art

Local events are popping up for spring/summer & I'm seeing an uptick in posters using AI "art" to promote. Today there's one for an earth month event.

Feeling inspired lately by #thrifted, #upcycled & #handmade #fashion lately. This #illustration is based on a beautiful, thrifted jacket shown on Virginia Chamlee's substack, What's Left. Such a great resource with stylish ideas for thrifted finds of all kinds! vchamlee.substack.com/p/how-to-sty...

In a time when so many illustration jobs are being threatened by AI I've stepped back to remember how to enjoy the process without any expectations for the outcome. I've been watching the olympics and Alysa Liu's story was so inspiring because...

I’ve been taking a break from the publishing side of things lately. I’m still a working illustrator, I’ll just be focusing on other industries for a bit. I’m still developing book work behind the scenes but I’m burnt out on socials and I’m using my energy for creation instead of promotion for now ✌️

But sadly what I did NOT do is a #kidlitartpostcard :( enjoying seeing everyone else’s though!

I've Been using P3 color space on #procreate recently & converting to CMYK/adjusting colors in photoshop for things that will be printed. I think I get brighter colors this way than I would just starting off in CMYK.
