It's the last day before the #RevPit showcase opens! I'm a jittery mess, but I know my pages are ready thanks to @fromcarly.bsky.social Thank you so much for believing in my manuscript. It means the world to me, and I am so happy I've gotten the chance to work with you ✨ #RevPitClassof25

There were pacing issues, and the characters weren't jumping off of the page like they do in my mind. Carly changed that. Moving one chapter from the 3/4 mark to the first half got the ball rolling, and then we talked through characterization improvements, pacing, tension, and everything else in between.

Here's a snippet of my #MG novel, BEYOND THE MOON, for #RevPitClassof25

“How could you banish your middle child to the barn. I’m always the one who has to compromise.” My voice caught like tangled twigs and grew softer and softer. “What’s wrong with Brooke’s room?”
But Mom wasn’t listening. She couldn’t hear anything anyway with the ancient vacuum rumbling so loud. Besides, she didn’t care that Grams wanted my room. She hadn’t even asked if it was okay with me. After the year my family had, I shouldn’t have been surprised. And I know I’m not supposed to complain. I headed out of my former room, my heart hammering in defeat.
Lugging the basket down the hallway, my eyes stung with tears. If Grampie was here, he’d see the tears making my eyes shiny and the way I pinched my lips together like I did when I was upset. He’d know. He always did.
With the basket thumping behind me—clunk, step clunk, step clunk—I trudged down the steep steps thinking about how many straws it would take to actually break a camel’s back. There were plenty of straws this week alone. Now I was the camel, legs splat on the ground, buried under mounds of hay.

#RevPit #RevPitClassof25 #writingcommunity There aren't enough characters allowed on BlueSky to say all of the things I learned from RevPit 😅 The truth is, it's still not done teaching me! ❤️The opportunity to work with an editor is of such an amazing experience. More on that on my post on Sunday!

Through #RevPit, I learned about the power of the writing community. I made so many friends from around the globe through this competition. We're all out here struggling through the query trenches and on a roller coaster of imposter syndrome lows and creativity highs.

I've adored getting to hear about all of the incredible projects that touch every single genre (and subgenre) that I can imagine.

I am beyond proud to be part of such an amazing cohort! No matter what happens, I feel so blessed that this experience gave me a supportive group of friends who understand the writing life
