Well the monarchs didn't take labor day off apparently!

Old beat up front door with big sign "Monarch chrysalis!!! Please be careful!!!" And a frickin' chrysalis on the handle. Luckily we have a 2nd entrance and the handle doesn't move when opened with our key cards.

I'm mostly looking at trees and bugs and stuff when I'm out and about, I usually miss most of the snakes I'd see, so I'm always excited when I catch something snakey out of the corner of my eye... Only to be routinely disappointed by the plethora of not-snakes out there!

My post grad school discovery of novellas really got my reading life back on track! Murderbot, Binti trilogy, Wayward Children series, Singing Hills cycle, Monk and Robot duology! Bonus points for fitting more of them on a shelf.

Part of a bookshelf with a bunch of novellas (mostly Tor, lol) then some excellent novels (death of the author, deep as the sky red as the sea, insectopolis, and the Calvin and Hobbes collection, and the three panel soul comics collection)

Ironwood (Carpinus caroliniana) is an old favorite tree, but this gem is a special favorite now! Featuring probably/possibly Smoky Polypore (Bjerkandera adusta) down lore and Crowded Parchment (Stereum complicatum) above.
