“Arkane Studios’ STJV section joins BDS and the No Azure for Apartheid in their demands for Microsoft to stop supporting the Israeli regime,” Arkane workers wrote. “We think that Microsoft has no place being accomplice of a genocide, and as Microsoft employees, we don’t want to be part of this sinister project for Gaza. Moreover, we think it’s our responsibility, as tech workers, to raise the alarm, and to ensure that our technologies are used to make the voices of the oppressed heard, and not facilitate their demise. Finally, in a more direct manner, we think this could very well affect our life directly, by reducing the audience for our games, thus directly compromising the viability of Xbox Games, and, in the long run, our very own jobs.”

The letter includes a list of specific demands, which echo those of No Azure For Apartheid: an immediate and permanent ceasefire in Gaza, termination of all ongoing or future contracts with Israeli occupation forces, disclosure of all ties to the Israeli military, protection of pro-Palestinian speech within the company, and “a transparent, independent and public audit of Microsoft technologies, contracts, services and investments to make sure they are not used to violate the United Nations Guiding Principles on Business and Human Rights, the Geneva Conventions and their Additional Protocols, and Microsoft’s own Human Rights Statement, in Palestine or anywhere else.”

My statement on Donald Trump's threat to deport me and his praise for Eric Adams, who the President "helped out" of legal accountability.

The President of the United States just threatened to have me arrested, stripped of my citizenship, put in a detention camp and deported. Not because I have broken any law but because I will refuse to let ICE terrorize our city.

His statements don’t just represent an attack on our democracy but an attempt to send a message to every New Yorker who refuses to hide in the shadows: if you speak up, they will come for you. We will not accept this intimidation.

That Trump included praise for Eric Adams in his authoritarian threats is unsurprising, but highlights the urgency of bringing an end to this Mayor’s time in City Hall. At the very moment when MAGA Republicans are attempting to destroy the social safety net, kick millions of New Yorkers off of healthcare and enrich their billionaire donors at the expense of working families, it is a scandal that Eric Adams echoes this President’s division, distraction and hate.

Voters will resoundingly reject it in November.

I'm glad the strike is over, but I'll never stop thinking about the nasty tactics certain voice actors engaged in in just to "hurry up and get back to work" for a handful of dying and corrupt companies, and I know I'm not the only one. Many voice actors got a foul look at their heroes this strike.

The Latest “LBFO” IMA offer

We know there are a lot of images and questions circulating regarding the “LBFO”

Let’s discuss some discrepancies we’ve seen & concerns we still have based on what members of Neg Comm have provided

(Please note: This is going to be text heavy)

Regarding DR (Digital Replicas):

There is no such thing as a PCAP DR in the LBFO. Visual DRs are supposed to cover on-camera performances in video games, but the employers still reserve their interpretation of the contract that the only performance capture covered by the IMA is PCAP that has spoken dialogue. They do not consider any “movement-only PCAP” acting and don’t feel that they have to pay motion-only performers under union contracts.

Obviously, the union disagrees with that interpretation of the contract, but the committee has tried to make sure that any proposals in the contract effectively retain each side’s positions on this topic to address it in future negotiations.

Visual DRs only apply to visual performance (face or body) for cinematics, and only for a specific, objectively identifiable performer.

Employers are free to create in-game movement or facial
performance without consent, transparency or compensation.

“Can Suspend Consent During A Strike”

There are five instances in which you would not be able to suspend consent of something that creates new performance, even objectively identifiable as you in-character, during a strike.

i. DR (if prepaid sessions’ worth)
ii. ICDR
iii. Scratch
iv. Multi-game rights
v. Prompting

This could be for one or several of the following reasons:

i. Explicitly carved out (ICDR, scratch)
ii. Because they can prepay you and they get to “use what they’ve paid for” (DR, ICDR, scratch, multi-game rights)
iii. It’s not covered by the contract at all, no consent, transparency, compensation (prompting by ANYTHING other than the actor’s name)

And this could be for sideletter 6 games only (multi-game rights, DR) or even for struck games (ICDR, scratch, prompting).

To be clear, if they pre-pay you for any of your sessions for a DR, then you can’t suspend that pre-paid DR work during a strike for SL6 games. That can greatly reduce the effect of a strike. In TV/Film, even if they pay you ahead of time, you can go on strike and disrupt production. You are then required to go back to work once the strike is over.

Actors are not asking for anything unreasonable with AI protections. We have protections in every other area. Employers for television, film, animation, & commercials agree actors deserve AI protections. The few companies we’re striking against are the only ones in the industry who don’t agree.
