One of the actions #SummerGame players can take for points is to make a public comment at a meeting of the AADL Board of Trustees. This always makes for very rewarding civic engagement, but this young player took it to the next level and displayed a preternatural grasp of parliamentary procedure!

The one and only AADL #SUMMERGAME is here and WHOA NELLY. Last year, on Day 3, we were marveling at the fact that we had 500 lawn codes already. WELL THIS YEAR it's only Day 2 and we already have OVER 1000. It's gonna be another big big year for the Summer Game! Get started today at play.aadl.org!

Last night, the AADL Board approved a transfer agreement, for the air rights above the Library Lane garage for inclusion in our new Downtown Library project. This milestone is the next step in a long journey, and we're looking forward to delivering an incredible new dream library for our community!
An incredible, colorful crayon drawing of a dream downtown library by a child named Mori, titled Indoor / Outdoor Playing. A blue sky fills the page with fluffy clouds floating by, a red and yellow sun in the top right, as a passenger jet pulling an AADL! banner flies over a smiling butterfly. The library itself is shaped like a tree with an underground kids room labeled "Books of the world!" inlcudling a changing room and a rainbow waterslide labeled "Awesome Library" leading into a pool where two people are snorkeling. In the tree are stacks and stacks of books, one labeled "Awesomeness" with three happy library patrons standing nearby. A guy with dark hair and a beard appears to be flying upwards inside the trunk, I choose to believe that is me.

Today is the 20th anniversary of the opening of Pittsfield Branch Library! Suspended over a protected wetland that is home to birds, turtles, and muskrats, Pittsfield Branch had over 150,000 visits in FY25. Huge thanks to @debbiedingell.house.gov for her congressional tribute to the occasion!

The Ann Arbor District Library (AADL) system was established in 1957 at the Downtown Library and has expanded to include four branch libraries over the past six decades. Holding over 480,000 materials - including books, DVDs, CDs, audiobooks, tools, art materials, and more - the library was named "National Library of the Year" by Library Journal in 1997.
Opened in March of 2006, the Pittsfield Branch serves as a community-based learning center for the residents of Ann Arbor's southwest quadrant while also capitalizing on environmental principles. The goal of the construction was to create a building that would operate in more harmony with the ecosystem and the community in which it serves; the library has done just that for 20 years.
The building houses an updated physical collection of books, DVDs, magazines, and more, as well as over two dozen public computer terminals and numerous collaboration spaces for the people who rely on it. Pittsfield Branch also incorporates solar heating, natural daylighting, convection cooling, and renewable resources for the ecosystem it exists in. More than 150,000 people visited Pittsfield Branch in 2025, checking out items from the collection, gathering in meeting rooms, and attending more than 300 in-person events throughout the year.
Mister Speaker, I ask my colleagues to join me today in celebrating the remarkable 20" anniversary of AAPL's Pittsfield Branch. This milestone is a testament to the library's commitment to providing resources, expanding knowledge, and enriching the Ann Arbor community in a sustainable manner.
We commend the generations of members, workers, and visitors who have sustained and raised the library over its 20 years of service, We wish Pittsfield Branch Library continued success and many more years of bringing the community together.
