Men think there's about equal numbers when there are 17% women, and that there are more women than men when there are 33% women. They may leave an area (a bar, a party) when there's 20% women, but it takes about 40% in a professional field for most men to abandon it; some will even change careers.

The owners are not held liable for its harm, either; they're working hard to claim "we just made The Thing and it's the end users' jobs to use it without harming themselves; no, we're not providing instructions or safety features, but you totally can't hold us responsible when people believe it."

Among the many issues: If you learn something, act on it, and cause harm, you can be held liable for the results. If an LLM "learns" something, and shares knowledge in a way that causes harm, it is not held liable - nobody pulls the plug on it if it kills someone. (Which has happened.)

It's a soap opera. You can watch a handful of episodes of any soap opera to get the style/tone and most of the relevant tropes. The specific details you need to know are: 1. J.R. Ewing (the guy front & center on the cover) is the evil money tycoon.

My job encouraged copilot use until they realized only the managers have "premium" accounts and the rest of us get 6 prompts/day. If you're stuck with "premium," find some time (token) wasting prompts to throw at it.

it is REALLY easy for folks to 'do the right thing' when they are getting bombarded with bad press. so in my mind i thought 'well, if they REALLY want to grow and learn, we can see if they REMEMBER this and actually care when the smoke clears and nobodys looking.' i have not been invited back.

They still do, but it's generally not strong enough nor in large enough quantities to dissolve a body. (Vinegar's acidic.) I suppose anyone with a power-tools workshop might have stronger acids used for cleaning metal & such. But still - maybe as much as a half-gallon. Not enough to fill a bathtub.

They are going to deregister as many Democrats as they can. And they're going to hype these numbers to try to convince you, "you don't need to vote; you've got this; one little vote won't matter." They'll try to push R's who would stay home that they need to vote. Don't be complacent.

Sincere religious beliefs don't have to comply with the official doctrines of any church. The fun one is the Catholic school refusing non-vaxed students. Parents can claim "religious beliefs" on the secular gov't but not on a school of that religion. www.catholicculture.org/commentary/f...

Legal experts say employers must take AI-related religious objections seriously, as a 2023 ruling raised the bar for denying such accommodations.

It looks like they collected comments & feedback from all over, handed the "assemble into a listicle" job to an intern who promptly fed all the feedback into AI and published the results without even proofreading. I hope someone has the complete list saved out somewhere.

There's always been a solid faction of guys whose interest in ttrpgs is the fantasy of beating up or killing anyone they don't like. They just wanted to call them "orcs" so they could handwave deniability about their racism. Many of them also want the fantasy of women as property.

Puffin ended the series in 1995, but the rights to the series were eventually purchased by Wizard Books in 2002. Wizard published new editions of the original books and also commissioned six new books over two series, ending in 2012. The rights were then acquired by Scholastic in 2017, which has since published four new titles and reissued thirteen of the original books with new artwork.

And also: a lot of characters won't translate well, so you'd need a GM who loves dealing with the arguments and making endless judgment calls about what details convert and what don't. …D&D has spell lists. Fate doesn't. Jumping between them is non-trivial.

Had a GM friend who wanted to try something like this - test new systems by shifting the same party into new character sheets every handful of sessions. I pointed out that you'd need players who love writing up characters, which is not the same as people who like playing or who play well.

He seems to be saying that AI code is entirely unchecked; doesn't seem to acknowledge "AI-gen code reviewed by expert, confirmed to do exactly what they want it to do - they just didn't have to type it up." I am aware this is a pretty small slice compared to the amount of vibe-coding submissions.

What PbtA games don't use the 2d6 "6 or less /7-9/ 10+ (/12+)" rolls and playbooks? (Brindlewood Bay doesn't technically have playbooks, but that's because it'd be "here's 30-ish playbooks each with only 1 move." Other than that, it's the same structure.)

He met one of those bible-thumper types once, who asked him, "what would you be doing, if you were REALLY following God's plan for you? if you were doing EXACTLY what God wanted you to do?" And he thought, and replied, "I think I'd be a janitor. At a post office."

My dad was a mail carrier until it was too hard on his back, and he switched to being a janitor at the post office. He worked that job for over 30 years until he retired (with a pension that was something like 85% of his paycheck, because he'd started when gov't pension plans were good).

I have a lot of #ttrpg PDFs. Many have no bookmarks, no tags, no title or author in the metadata. Sometimes they have a title like "EML324r.qxd" and an author like "Administrator@CX1297-C" And fairly often, they're locked to prevent any changes to those.

1. Some people like formulaic stories. 2. That doesn't mean AI can follow the formula. Formulaic stories, especially romances, are not a list of plot events; they're a matter of emotional resonances in a specific order. AI can put plot details in order; it fails at evoking the desired emotions.

"Rules light" is often used to mean "there's no range charts for guns and you can do combat without a grid/hex-map." Has nothing to do with how complex the game is, just whether or not it's got wargame-miniatures level of tactical detail for combat.

There may be a handful of other clothing types that are made by machine. (Hats, gloves, scarves, other knitwear; dunno if there's simple sewn items that machines can do yet. I'm sure someone's working on it.) They're all still designed by humans, even the most formulaic of patterns.
