My very last call for the latest, 28-title-strong Crashbook! BOOM: www.electrondance.co... Screenshots shown: 20 More, Somehow Even Smaller, Mazes, Beat Weaver, Tempus Vitae, Trading Card Inspector
20 More, Somehow Even Smaller, Mazes.

The screen is a mish-mash of numerous little mazes with different headings like "YOU ARE THE MAZE-ISH THING" and "EAT ALL THE DOTS". There's a picture in the bottom which has a child's drawing of a goblin overlaid and some turtles with the text "BREAKING NEWS: GOBLIN TURTLE PEACE TREATY" and there's an X in the corner with text pointing to it saying "SELECT "X" TO CLOSE".

Above the picture is the text: "PLAY STRANGE JIGSAWS". And you should, you know. Take it from me.Beat Weaver.

Sometimes I get upset with myself for choosing the hardest screenshots to describe. But here we are. Life sucks and then you die. All that counts are the screenshots in between.

Anyway, some funky looking craft is riding along a multicoloured athletics track. Yes, I know it's a rhythm chasing game, but goddamn if this does not look like a multicoloured athletics track.

Hovering above the track to the left are two phrases. Flow Switch, which is in red with half a star, followed by Chord Player which is in white and has one and half stars.

At the bottom is a style bar on the left which contains the letter "B" and on the right is "FUEL MIX" I think which is yellow and contains the numbers 11/11. There's a a big colourful bar in the centre bottom with a 4X in it. Underneath are brightly coloured tiny buttons containing levels of ... colour. It's a lot, okay.Tempus Vitae.

First-person perspective. Futuristic, clean look. We are looking at some experiment-type thing, a giant cylinder containing some floating yellowy polyhedrons. Yeah, I'm going with that. I've written enough descriptions to start taking shortcuts, people.

Naturally, there is a sign overhead, in front of some chunky pipes, that reads RADIATION WARNING with the radiation symbol. There are two doorways at the back, both say "UNLOCKED". In future, doors will tell if they are unlocked or not. That's how you know it is future.

There's a small HUD display in the bottom left. It's got a green health bar and blue power bar. It also looks like the date is shown. Y2185. M11. D28. Time travel, maybe!?!?Trading Card Inspector.

The whole display is plotted in cyan and black, with the background being black.

The main part of the display shows the back of a card labelled "HABUBIS TRADING CARD GAME" with a knife/blood motif on it. There's a big text boxout beside it explaining the BLOOD CARDS MODIFIER which has some great text: "This batch of cards may or may not have been involved with a violent criminal action.".

On the left is a list of documents that you can select, I would guess, such as HOW TO PLAY and STAT REQUIREMENTS. There is a puppy with a hat on the bottom left above a ball which contains the number 0.

On the right are stats like -1, +1 something called IDK and there's a 911 button.

There's also an alert saying "THEY TOWED AWAY SOMEONE'S CAR OUTSIDE!"

Looks mad, that's all I can say. If you're new around these parts, that is a vote of confidence.

My fellow humans, I once again nudge you towards Crashbook, because it contains 28 games that I have not played. What's the point, you ask? THERE IS NONE. New list here: www.electrondance.co... Screenshots shown: The Arab League of Misfits, The House Before, Aerial_Knight’s MrFreezy, SPRAWL zero
The Arab League of Misfits.

The entire screen is covered with cards which vary from "YOUR DAD FEARS YOUR MOM" to "NO TEARS WITHOUT TEAR GAS". The display is at a slight angle and looks incomplete as if it was caught in motion or clipped from photo.

Anyway, it's a card game innit! There's a list of stats down the right side indicating Attacks, Defense, Insult, Power-up, Trap, Ultimate, SHATARA and SUMOUD. I don't know what it's all about, but maybe you will know one day.The House Before.

We are looking at something that looks like a machine interface, largely draped in a purple hue. There is a large rectangular viewport to the upper right, showing a fuzzy display in which can be seen a rail that goes into closed, barred passage. There are two other barred passages on the left and right.

Underneath the viewport are four lights, the first of which are lit, and a command selector which currently reads "ACTIVATE". There is also another indicator to the right that says "EYE".

The left side of the screen is dominated by a big circular hole. While some of the machinery is connected by pipes, there is an organic shift towards the right, as the backdrop is covered in something more like veins.Aerial_Knight’s MrFreezy.

In this monochrome, dithered scene, a figure leans menacingly towards you - her eyes completely white. Shelves in the background seems to hold... severed heads.

Ooh there's a candle in the bottom left, I just saw it.SPRAWL zero.

First-person perspective game. We look out upon some industrial part of a city, full of rusting pipes and girders. The sky is overcast and everything has a sandy, sallow hue. A craft of some kind, maybe a drone, is hovering in the air with lights or jets emanating from ports around its periphery. We are stood on a walkway.

There's a crane in the background and something that looks suspiciously like the Citadel from Half-Life 2. It stretches up the screen and we cannot see the top of it.

I mislaid my Crashbook for a few months, so this chapter is epic-sized. Twenty-eight games I spotted on the innernets but have not played. Listed here: www.electrondance.co... Screenshots Shown: MÖRK BORG Heresy Supreme, N PLUS INFINITY TIMES TWO, PUTRID/SHARP, Sarco
 MÖRK BORG Heresy Supreme.

Okay so I've no fucking idea what I'm looking at here. This does look like a combat game. In the top left a styled hear contains... 1/1. Underneath a cool mace chain motif reads STAMINA 160. The player is using a bow which has offers DAMAGE 1-2.

I guess the player with the bow is on the lower left and it's difficult to see them because their wearing a dark hood with yellow highlights and is smothered in blood. The beast in the fray takes up the right half of the screen, and I think has been hit with the bow - it's head is rocking sideways, looking a bit like a arctic seal with sharp teeth and red horns. He is covered in blood. He also has hands.

Blood is everywhere. Did I mention that??

N PLUS INFINITY TIMES TWO.

It's everyone's coolest minimalist platformer where death is frequent. In this screen, four different ninjas, in pastel colours, share the screen. There are several rows of gold squares and one ninja, the brown one, is about to exit on the bottom row. The other three are trying to escape several missiles further up the screen. There is an explosion occurring, which is probably one of the missiles.

The background consists of light grey stripes, a bit like the floor of the Red Room in Twin Peaks, if the Red Room was a cosy place.PUTRID/SHARP.

A impressionistic picture on the left shows two figures near each other. It is unclear if they are sitting or standing or attempting to sleep.

On the right is dialog, like the kind of thing you might see in a game like Disco Elysium, which is totally a game I haven't played. Here's what the text reads:
-
ODE: Eury?

SARAH: It's just me, sorry

Sarah is gently holding Odes arm, assessing how badly he got hurt.

Ode lurches back, yanking his arm away.

Sarah lets him go, but she doesn't create any distance between them.Sarco.

First-person perspective game where we're looking into a sort of ancient tomb with stone pillars. In the centre is a very important pillar which has a light blue eye motif struck on its surface. That might actually be the player's reticule, though, it is difficult to tell.

Everything is really red, yo.

A small bar on the bottom left indicates your Oxygen.

Dear God it's another Crashbook, everyone's super favourite list of games I have not played. A monster deluxe edition with 28 "are-they-bangers-who-knows". Read here: www.electrondance.co... Screenshots shown: Alruna: End of History, Atmospheric Labyrinth, ExeKiller, I SHALL NAME THE DEAD
Alruna: End of History.

A little flower gal stands in the lower left in a room in a chamber that has an image or statue of a woman in distress. It looks like she is shackled and possibly has a crown of thorns. This might be the BOSS though because there is an enormous hitpoint bar at the bottom of the screen and, guess what, it's marked BOSS.

Art style is of a 90s console metroidvania.Atmospheric Labyrinth.

This looks like a crisp isometric floorplan, entirely in monochrome. It is strange, though, because the floorplan, which looks like a set of normal household rooms, covers the entire screen - as if these normal-looking rooms go on forever.

Not every room has a door. There are small slits on some of the walls, so possibly you have to shift the walls to open up the rooms.

There is no player character visible.ExeKiller.

A grungy backstreet with neon signs such as "noodles". A black dude with shades and a white vest strolls nonchalantly off to the left; he really looks like CJ from GTA San Andreas to me, but that everybody in polygons looks like some avatar from another game with polygons, amirite?

Tehre are a few people standing around. At the back a sign indicates directions to Manhattan, Brooklyn, Staten Island and - possibly - "Raritan Canyon".I SHALL NAME THE DEAD.

Cool looking lady stares at you wearing an orange top and orange lipstick; she is possibly blind in one eye as its pupil is white. This has the appearance of a static shot from a visual novel. In the bottom left there is a dialog box indicating Imaculada is saying, "It's... a kid."

If you look closely, the background has a papery texture.

A new problem I'm having with He Who Watches is that in the last week, the mouse keeps moving out of the game onto the other monitor. This wasn't a problem initially and the only solution I've found right now is rearrange my displays so mouse escape is unlikely.

HE WHO WATCHES just getting the fuck out of the Chamber of Rigidity, I been in there a week with little progress. Also when you're chained to a block... if the block is pushed, you move with it; but if you are pushed, the block anchors you. This physics incongruity is messing me up a little.

Now that's a wild mechanic that takes a while to get on the good side of. But as the environment of the game is three-dimensional, there are some secret places which require tenacity and experience to find. However, I've not "solved" any of the secrets so far. WHAT IS THE LEAF BLOCK HUH 2/2

HE WHO WATCHES. It took me a little while to find my bearings in this one - the hub/puzzle structure was confusing as was some of the interactions. But persevere because on the other side is some puzzle cool. Lots going on here but main thing (so far) is **assigning gravity** to each block. 1/2

**Planning natural link integration**

**Drafting thematic notebook link**

The forgotten-notebook framing gives this backlog far more personality than a standard wishlist. I could imagine using AI-generated sayings and creative prompts to add a similarly surreal epigraph to each entry. Of these, Cadence intrigues me most; a puzzle system where the solution becomes music sounds genuinely refreshing.

On the final final revision of all the Bivium text which means I can have a final final countdown to being "done". The percentage track is lumpy - some of the items are literally one passage and others are over 15.
A list of percentages. All are 0% except for the first, which is "TOTAL" equal to 2.86% and the second which reads "LANES" equal to 100% and was completed on 30 August.

The names against the 0% percentages are all blotted out. Although one of the entries nearer the bottom has a bit of additional text saying "Make more scary".

Having had our locked car lifted from our driveway in under 3 minutes without forced entry, this kind of sentiment I just found in a BBC article is infuriating. We were hard sold that keyless entry was super-secure & there was no other option! I was dubious from the first time I had such a system.
Text reading:

"As we know, computers are vulnerable. These vehicles are impressively powerful, but at the same time we can communicate with them so they can be attacked with the right software and knowledge.

"The public are demanding these convenient vehicles that start at the press of a button - with that, you get security vulnerabilities."

Save system has been a drag - I lost ~2 hours of game progress in two separate instances. Once because I forgot to hit a save point before quitting and second because I found a spot where I fell infinitely - and had to restart. Anyway, I'll probably do one more session before calling it a day.
Faux gothic cathedral vibes as we look through a structure that has no real roof, like the idea of a cathedral without any of the connective tissue.

I'm not confident I follow the thrust of the narrative, because it's a little Talos Principle-y and I'm not sure how that squares with its backbone of anti-AI agitprop. The execution is a little lumpy. But it's obvious the dev has thrown so much of themselves into this.
It looks like we're looking down some enormous tunnel with megastructure vibes. There is a small bridge across the tunnel flanked by pylons.

Unlikely a problem with Sugarcube (see image). I didn't do any research, i just took the first format offered "ooh okay sure". This was supposed to be a two-week project, after all. I should've chosen Sugarcube as it fits me better and I've been breaking Harlowe's guardrails more often than not.
Harlowe's arrays, datamaps, and datasets are functionally similar to JavaScript Arrays, Maps, and Sets, but with a few key differences. SugarCube requires authors to define and work with these data types using the standard JavaScript methods rather than providing macros for them.

I've also realised I hit this bug many months ago and found a different workaround at that time (see image). I just checked how "xcharacters" and "characters" variables look in the session state. The former is in compressed format and the latter is fully serialised - and THAT'S why that fix worked.
Piece of code from Bivium that says:

<!--
IMPORTANT
This following line is a workaround for a save bug.	I noticed when I refreshed the browser that parts	of the game broke. It took time to figure out it was the characters datamap which became inaccessible.

An intfiction.org thread from 2024 suggested a particular	variable would not get saved for somebody and the workaround was to create it in a temp variable, but copy it into "the real variable" and this has solved the problem for me.

https://intfiction.org/t/save-files-remembering-some-variables-but-not-others/70209

I started wading through how the session state was stored and realised the inventory and event datamaps were not stored as I expected - i.e. as all the values serialised. No, according to the Harlowe source code, it uses tricks to save on space. And when I read this I realised what was happening.
Section from Harlowe code which reads:

ValueRefs are used to reconstruct large and complicated values when loading the save file. The values are saved as references to the story's code where the value was originally assigned, so that they can be reconstructed by simply re-executing that span of code.

There are two kinds: "at" ValueRefs, which refer to specific passages' code, and "via" ValueRefs, which refer to previous Moments' variables, in cases where data structures are subtly permuted across turns.

Optional collectibles seem to be about messing around with how the world looks. I assume this isn't going to be a key part of the game but you never know. The only thing is, if you select a particular look, the settings will be reset when you move into an area with its own visual style.

It is a strange old game. Mechnically a mass collectible fest with a few "huh how do I get there" places and a light metroidvania feel. It seems to be a meditation on AI but by god it's easy to get lost. It just goes on and on and nothing is in a straight line.
"Let none but Geometry pass through this door" is written into the ground below where a door should be. We're actually looking into a classroom and a huge face - a teacher - overlooks the Daemon "kids".

I have pulled myself away from gamedev at the moment because brain has melted into goo. Randomly installed Carceri. Primarily a first-person wanderer (okok walking sim) that has floaty jumping and has me thinking of Supraland.
It's almost impossible to describe what I'm seeing here because it's all garish colours and polygonesque shapes. There are there coloured lines (pink, yellow, cyan) that wind their way through the environment on the left but the rest of it is platforms and walls and a tower (that is largely pink). Shapes that resemble trees dot the landscape. There's a small pyramid wireframe structure on one platform. The sky is blueish. Here, we can see real human art of geometric shapes inside a sheltered location. We can look out at the Carceri landscape. A small catlike figure sits atop a triangular mound. The catlike figures are called daemons. This area in Carceri is easier to parse except for all the light beams popping out of the ground which, here, is all my fault. I can explain that another time. There are various arches spread out across the landscape and there is a general violet/pink hue here.A catlike figure is looking at a arcade game called "Life as a Human" and saying: "A walking sim? That's not a game"

Other arcade games the character could be playing are Yet More Boss Fights, Super Block Craft 64 and Evergreen.

Current state of Bivium, July 4, 2026. I don't think I have any more tweaks to make to the layout - so this is likely to be what you see on release.
Title screen leading with the graphic of a yellow line forking inside a white box. Under the title graphic is the word "BIVIUM". Below that it reads AN ELECTRONDANCE GAME INSPIRED BY BLUE PRINCE.

Further below are the options to "Begin" and "Load Saved Game".Orange screen declaring your location is Tent on Day One. Text below reads:

Your name is Nelson Bottle.
You awake with hope that you can assemble the Verum Occultum and smuggle it out of the country. You must make it back to the Tent alive to make useful items permanent.
You emerge from the Tent.
You have 4 steps remaining. Click the hand icon to project.

There is a sidebar with options to Check Backpack, Load and Save with four orange squares.

A hand icon lingers at the bottom of the page, longing to be touched. Two cards are laid out in the middle of the screen on a grey stone-like tray.

The first card is black and reads "STREET" featuring the image of a grim cityscape perhaps in the evening or in the presence of smog.

The second card is green and reads "CRESCENT" featuring the picture of a door with a crescent shape on its surface.

That someone is smoking a pipe.she danced in the wind like a holographic dream before the world died: Yes, it's more decaying Brutalist structures to look at, but everything is suffused with a sandy yellow colour. The Darkest Files: A cutscene showing three Nazi soldiers moving through a wine cellar. Motorslice: A woman with blue hair, sporting an orange top and orange puffy trousers, holds a chainsaw while facing off against an enormous truck which is bigger than a four storey building. The Talos Principle III: Yes, I see some floating islands with some roots growing out of them into weird pustule-like growths and the sky is a touch lilac. However, there is a puzzles in the middle of them. At the top of the screen is a sequence of triangles which seem to indicate progress.Automaton Heart: A blue-skinned guy seems to be looking up a sandy wall or slope. Above is curved road that climbs way high into the sky towards the top a skyscraper. My god there are a lot of big buildings in Crashbook this episode.Éclaircies: A forest scene on bright day, bathed in shadow. The graphics are charmingly lo-fi. The trees and undergrowth are made up of polygonal layers while the track through the forest is flat, made up of giant pixels.

Backtrace: This looks just like the original Apple Mac desktop; all monochrome, pixelated graphics. Behind is a FILE SYSTEM window containing various options and a progress meter.DITTORI: A red figure stands on a raised platform. There are two green panels located either side of the figure. There is a higher raised platform a little further back, with a ladder to help climb it. The depths are misty, with the bright fog obscuring the floor. It is a puzzle game of some sort.Luna Abyss: A monstrous megastructure-like skyscraper dominates the view. It is grey and metallic with red strips of light oozing from some of its grooves.Snap & Grab: We see a vibrant, neon flooded penthouse flat with a swimming pool and bar area. Well, I guess its a penthouse flat. It could just be some club. I mean, I haven't played the game, so I have no idea how you expect me to know these things. The penthouse club is surrounded by other skyscrapers. It's not the only game featuring the neon 90s but, yeah, all I can see is GTA: Vice City.

It looks good, man.Phonopolis: We see a building composed of oval-shaped floors, that make me think of biscuit tins but also freight containers. Together, they look a bit like a boat. There are heavy-looking robot figures flanking the main characters in the scene.Derelict Star: A pixellated platformer scene that looks like it was made in PICO-8.HYPNOS: The statue of skeletal figure looking at something in it raised hand stands in the centre of a city square. There are various small figures scattered around it but just seem to be treating the area as a meeting place. Renaissance-era Northern European style buildings in the background block out the sky entirely.Stardream: We are in a garden underneath a dome through which a bright blue sky is visible. If you've seen the trailer, this sky is most likely projected onto the dome because the story takes place in space. There is a yellow and white sun umbrella standing to the left over an orange chair and small table. An orange car can be seen at the front of the garden and large gates open onto a road. Other houses can be seen hugging the road as it curves to the left.

Everybody's favourite Electron Dance post is back after a long hiatus - Crashbook! This time it's almost thirty games in the list. Games I haven't played. Read here: www.electrondance.co... Screenshots shown: Relooted, The Mound: Omen of Cthulhu, Astro Protocol and Key Fairy.
Relooted. Cross-section of a building, revealing various rooms of a high-class apartment. There is a list of instructions on the top left such as "Collect: Vigango Statues".The Mound. The forward deck of a wooden ship from a previous century, with a number of characters positioned around it. The ship is approaching land with is covered with a tropical jungle. The ship flies a white flag bearing a red X.Astro Protocol. A large hexmap with each space filled with icons. There is a small teal-coloured section of the map ont he right and a larger purple-coloured section on the left. A menu offers options to build a ship. You can also end your turn.Key Fairy. A lo-fi clearing in the middle of some lime-green woods, shown against an indigo background. A creature with one eye surrounded with thorned vines is in the centre of the screen, accompanied with a smaller figure implying a little girl, although it's difficult to tell. This figure wears a bow and her face is concealed within the dark of her head gear.

I posted another Crashbook which is renowned for highlighting games I have not played. How many this time? A grand total of 27, which you can find listed here: www.electrondance.co... Screenshots shown: Dap, DEMON DUST, Planet of Lana II, Quite a Ride
Dap. A forest of some kind, in the rain. There are giant flowers which seem to have opened on the floor of the forest, emitting some white particles. White figures, reminiscent of the forest spirits in Princess Mononoke, congregate around a campfire. Look more closely and many of the features seem composed of a looping lines and not solid regions of colour.DEMON DUST. A low-resolution first-person scene where you are looking into a chamber with yellow stone walls across a specular walkway. On the left is shown your hit points, your dust level and an hour glass. On the right is your inventory, such as bullets and a phone.Planet of Lana II. A character pilots an underwater vehicle through a flooded section of some old city; there are benches on the floor of the scene. The vehicle lights up a painted scene on the wall which depicts a woman holding hands with a robot as if coming to an understanding or meeting for the first time. Other people and robots are in the scene watching this moment. Fish float by.Quite a Ride. A section of a town, tinted green, and dark figures stand on the rooftops whose dimensions do not look entirely human. The first-person protagonist is holding a mobile phone which reveals the battery charge is 42 and the picture of a person who *might* have angelic wings.

If you want to know what I have been messing around with this week, it's Sol Cesto. I like this but also harbour some grumpy thoughts about upgrade gating. It is nice to get 800 coins in the bucket tho
Sol Cesto: In the centre of the screen there is a bucket, with the number 801 on the side, hanging in a shaft. A hand reaches up towards a handle beside the bucket. There are a lot of icons on both sides of the screen which I'm not going to ALT TEXT except for the teeth. You can replace your teeth for upgraded teeth.

It's been a while, but definitely time for another Crashbook post. 27 games I haven't played all wrapped in a shiny bow. Blog. I mean, shiny blog: www.electrondance.co... Screenshots shown: 1 Billion Spells, Crisol: Theater of Idols, Dreams on a Pillow, I Saw a Flying Saucer
1 Billion Spells: A visual of something that looks like a circuit or a tech tree with numerous coloured icons are connected on a path. It appears to overlay a map of some kind.Crisol: Theater of Idols. A wooden figure with a bull's head seems poised to strike you with a frying pan. The wooden figure is worn and old. There is a large gap of air where its torso should be.

This seems to be a first person shooter where you're holding a gold and blue pistol of some kind with a bright red power source or barrel. The room you are in has a tiled floor and the walls and doors have a mint tint. It is not clear what this room was - a shop of some kind. Maybe a butcher shop or deli?Dreams on a Pillow. A lone female figure is near the bottom of the image probably wearing an abaya and hijab, walking beside a white mosque. The mosque has a dome and several stained glass windows.I Saw A Flying Saucer. a low resolution image with scan lines depicting a gas station with a large triangular forecourt under which a car rests. Cacti hover near the front of the image. This is a low colour image - white, light brown, dark brown and olive seems to be the full gamut.

Read through Final Cut this week week which is full of long silences, repeating motifs and a general sense of unease running through every page.
Two pages of Final Cut by Charles Burns. On the left page is a variety of drawings by one of the characters in the story and on the right a woman and a man discuss them.

Tape 05 on repeat until I finish the game You know I've listened to a lot of music during the making of Bivium but Tape 05 is a perfect match for its themes. Absolute mood.
A passage from a Twine editor with the name "Candy-Finale". There is one arrow leading into and two leading out.

Furking hell, this level, 4-8 Parity Adjustment is hard. There's also a frustrating step counter. Spent a lot of time on it. Unfortunately, after spending some time on a walk thinking about it, I solved it and felt like a boss. This means I now think its the greatest puzzle in the world and I'm rad
A puzzle from A LITTLE PERSPECTIVE with cyan blocks forming a grid for our cheeky Red Cube Protagonist to solve puzzles. There is a deep blue block near the bottom left, which is basically a shuttle. There are also some purple blocks which have the numbers 0 and 1 on, these are step counters, and I am not sure I like step counters, friends.
