I'll have to think about what sort of questions to ask! People are always to kind to me, I want to try to give back a bit.

I don't read quickly enough to support indie authors with reviews, but I'm wondering about doing interviews. Ones with shortish responses that would fit onto photo carousels. I don't have much of a following but perhaps it would help?

A huge thank you to everyone who is supportive on here. I have wobbles, and while I should probably keep them to myself, people online are pretty much my entire human contact, certainly the only people who care even a little about my writing. I'm grateful to you all for being here.

I reply silly things to them on mine so the algo thinks its real engagement. No idea if it helps or just makes it worse.

Most likely. It's not that I mind doing it so much as it is I can't seem to get good at it. I'm not used to not being able to improve at things.

Thanks. It's probably just my covid and flu jabs talking. I'm too tired to put the walls up in my mind today.

Sometimes I think I just can't do this any more. (Publishing, mostly)

My second book, Echoes of Chaos, has been out for 5 days! Huzzah! This is book 1 of a new series, so you don't need to have read my standalone, Reborn in Ash. ❤️ Follow Eryn and Arlan as they're brought together by prophecy and an ancient conflict that isn't quite done with the world. #BookSky 💙📚🪐

A graphic with a faded marble background, text, and the cover of Echoes of Chaos by Gabrielle Steele on a tablet and a paperback. Header text: "Guided by light. Hunted by shadow." Subheading below the book image: "A new epic fantasy from Gabrielle Steele". Body text: "Desperate to destroy the twisted beast that was once the woman she loved, an outcast makes a costly deal with an imprisoned immortal, but when she gets caught up in an ancient conflict, she must decide what she’s willing to sacrifice to end her beloved’s suffering." Cover description: The background is dark blue with a cracked texture. The title is silver with a metallic almost 3D effect. Behind the title is a circular emblem of abstract dragons circling each other, one dark the other light. Beneath the title is a flame-coloured eagle in a watercolour style. Layered over the bottom of that is a marble-effect silhouette of a woman riding a horse with a cat beside it, surrounded by vine-like roots. The horse is rearing and the cat is up on its back legs reaching a forepaw towards the nearest root.

The art in Threshing Day painted by Joe Requeza is stunning! I’m not going to read the stories until I finish The Girl Who Cheated the Wind but flicking through the artwork is 😍😍😍

You know what I appreciate? Book printers who put a minimum order quantity on their website rather than waste everyone’s time with a “go away” quote. £250 for 10 books?? Even their quote for 100 is more than I’m paying now per book with 10-book runs.

The books are good quality. When they’re right. KDP always damages books from there and Ingram are expensive.

Bookvault update. They’re reprinting the order, but also say they’re going to investigate. I get frustrated when orders come wrong, but I do want to see them succeed as a company because they provide a good service.

Today, I’m at Sudbury Arts Centre for the Anglian Authors Book Fair! I’ve already had one person look offended that I asked if they read fantasy 😂 If you’re local come prove to them fantasy is awesome. 10-3, Sunday 27th. #bookfair #bookevent #suffolk #sudbury #essex

A reminder to those in Essex / Suffolk! I will be selling/signing at Sudbury Arts Centre tomorrow with a group of amazing local authors. Unfortunately, I won't have any copies of Echoes of Chaos. I thought about selling the misprints discounted, but Bookvault might ask me to return them. #Bookfair

It definitely seems like the cover maker has gone a way to be deceptive. It's a nice cover apart from the whole genAI thing. I'll check a bit more and see if the author mentions the cover being human made, but I do think they believe it is.

Gabrielle Steele ⚔️ Echoes of Chaos out now! @eldris.thellian.com · 26/09/2026

I just don’t want to ruin everything for them just before they attend a big event, which I’m also going to

000

Gabrielle Steele ⚔️ Echoes of Chaos out now! @eldris.thellian.com · 26/09/2026

Ngggg do I tell someone the cover they paid an artist for is actually genAI elements put together or do I just leave it alone?

550

Gabrielle Steele ⚔️ Echoes of Chaos out now! @eldris.thellian.com · 26/09/2026

GenAI is far, far from the right model type to be doing that. It's a predictive text engine.

I don’t manage to read much these days but I’ve just started The Girl Who Cheated the Wind by M.E. Moirin. 25 pages in and I’m loving it! I really wish I wasn’t such a slow reader.

The book cover of The Girl Who Cheated the Wind by M.E. Moirin. The title takes up much of the blue cover and behind it are domed buildings, a dragon, and a woman with a red thread running from her and weaving up through the cover elements.
