I like the full Redline film. But, the proof-of-concept short felt so much sharper and cooler. Which, yeah, it's hard to carry that energy for a whole damn film. I'm glad it's readily available on Youtube. Cause it haunted me for years seeing the movie and vaguely remembering a "better" version.

I'm gonna try after the end of Scorpio cup today. I'm hope to be able to afford a 10 pull after the finals. I spent almost all my carats trying to get Nakayama Festa. I did not get her. I got two cheerleader Nice Natures and a Cheer King Halo. I believe Cheer King Halo is a better get.

I believe Alphonse Mucha has crossed the gap between fine art and illustration. I saw a promotion for an upcoming exhibit at the Nelson Atkins museum earlier this year. I sincerely think the line between fine art and just an "illustrator" is if a wealthy org/person has a collection to promote.

I've come to accept that the first round of any open league CM is the humiliation ritual before I actually get to play. Group B semi finals, away from the meta players, is where my team finally gets to shine. I even dug this Agnes Tachyon out of the trash that turned out to be pretty good.

B group semi-finals is where the real fun is. The first round of any open league CM is just the humiliation ritual before we non-whale trainers get to actually play.

They are presenting a Keith Haring art exhibit currently. crystalbridges.org/events/keith... The museum hosts a variety of corporate sponsored exhibits. Unfortunately, as appears to be the case, Rose O'Neill just does not have a wealthy patron to push her art.

The museum I spoke of, that refused a collab with the Rose O'neill museum, has a giant Rockwell Rosie the riveter painting on display. They hosted a Rockwell Saturday Evening Post collection previously. I propose the line between Illustration and fine art is negated if a wealthy sponsor is involved.

Oh yeah, I'm a fan of her "Sweet monster" art. It's why I'm a fan. I yearn for a printed collection. I think she is largely dismissed base on her association with Kewpie dolls and book/comic illustrations. In contrast, Norman Rockwell is an illustrator. Yet, he is accepted by the fine art world.

Thank you! I'm sure they appreciate it. The museum needs repairs and support. Anything they can get is a big help.

It's a small museum. Two rooms of exhibits and a replica of her childhood home. Outside you can find two of her statues and visit her grave. The Ralph Foster museum in Branson, MO also has a section dedicated to Rose O'Neill. Visit the Bonniebrook first. Buy stuff from them! www.rfostermuseum.com

I avoided her for a long time cause I thought she was boring. The event with her and Bourbon baking was a slog to get through. But, I was wrong. I didn’t expect her career story to be a k-drama. Caught me off guard.

EldoniousRex @eldoniousrex.bsky.social · 20/09/2026

I have a lot of fondness for the absurdity of the Dragon Half art style. "I WILL DRAW THE BIGGEST AND DEEPEST EYES YET SEEN IN MANGA. THEIR IRISES PEERING AT YOU LIKE HALF A TANGERINE FROM A STYGIAN ABYSS!"

0224

EldoniousRex @eldoniousrex.bsky.social · 20/09/2026

I have a distinct feeling that several years from now we'll be hearing on TV interviews, "It was very obvious what they were planning. Why did nobody stop this?" Or 10 years form now in a history doc, "The president continued to fortify himself in D.C. The populace unaware of what is to come."

060

EldoniousRex @eldoniousrex.bsky.social · 20/09/2026

Indeed. That's how I figure it. If it's for "national security" he has a blank check to build it while the Supreme Court will rubber stamp it based on that. The limited military application will only be useful for fending off localized "domestic" threats while he hides in his ballroom bunker.

170

EldoniousRex @eldoniousrex.bsky.social · 20/09/2026

Ahhh....so, using the ballroom national security excuse to build the militarized arch. This reads like the ramblings of an insane man. What significant military purpose is a sniper going to accomplish from a relatively tiny arch...like the movie poster of those snipers on the Statue of Liberty.

I put a mix of brain bucket looks in the comic. Trying to touch on every era of Mechwarrior styling. However, I'm fond of the trashcans for the comedic novelty.

EldoniousRex @eldoniousrex.bsky.social · 19/09/2026

I don't want to be highly critical of "fine art." It has it's place. However, the modern fine art world is driven by the wealthy. Making it in the fine art world usually depends on how well you can sell yourself to the elite to get their patronage. Then, convince other snobs of that art's "value."

EldoniousRex @eldoniousrex.bsky.social · 19/09/2026

For context, Rose O'neill is considered the first female American comic artist and has been recognized by the Eisner awards. She's also the creator of the Kewpie doll. She's a culturally significant artist. But, nope, not "fine art." The museum dedicated to her is struggling www.roseoneill.org

The Fine Art vs Illustration snobbery is alive and well. It's actually more like "Wealth containers vs art." I asked the director of the Rose O'neill museum if they had talked to Crystal Bridges Museum about an exhibit. They said CB rejected them because Rose O'neill was an illustrator.
