KOKO◈TÖNA–Private Flay-Test v0.1a
INTRODUCTION
Seven lands. Seven tribes. Seven thousand years of borrowed time.
The Teotekah empire is a corpse draped in gold, its carcass cracked by the weight of divine bargains. From the jungles of Mikohuayan to Zektlan’s frozen wastes, the continent itself is a scar—The gods’ flesh, stolen and reshaped into mountains, rivers, and the trembling hearts of men. Their mercy is but a noose: Fight. Sacrifice. Entertain. Each moonrise, a throat is slit to keep the world from crumbling. Each season, Flower Wars bloom crimson, captives fed to the earth to slow Naktokatl’s vengeance.
But the threads fray. Metzteotl’s light wanes, his whispers drowned by the clatter of jade and blood-obsidian blades. The diviners mutter of the east, where Ayekoatemikti’s heir twists in his mate’s womb, a serpent coiled to strike. The temples chant, the pyramids weep, and the tribes march on—damned, desperate, glorious. For what is an empire but a lie turned truth by blood?
You are thieves. You are prayers. You are the last discordant hum before the ancient loom snaps.
You are flesh-bearers.

KOKOTÖNA
Seven Lands, Seven Tribes, Seven THOUSAND YEARS of borrowed time.

The Teotekah Empire is a corpse draped in gold, its carcass cracked by the weight of divine bargains. The scarred lands demand blood, this ancestral covenant the strangling mercy of Naktokatl and Metzteotl. The diviners mutter of the east, where the brood of Ayekoatemikti coils inside HIS MATE. Yet the damned flesh-bearers march on—a last discordant hum, echoing before the ancient loom finally snaps.

9. Friend or foe? Put both illustrations face to face and it looks like the reason Skelly Yen picked up arms, to fight this thing But books don’t bend that way, so when the book it's closed, they are actually back to back, and when actively read, side to side Allies then? Maybe...

8. Another thematic reason why it was chosen for the back cover was the bestiary section, as it starts with a human imperial enforcer (jaguar knight) and ends with a tzitzimimeh void gazer Front cover = human, back cover = tzitzimimeh. It's like George, it Lucases

7. Only the upper half is visible because it’s coming out of a portal shaped like a mesoamerican glyph of the night sky, the Yohualli glyph spilling & dissolving into the background. But are they casting this ritual to enter the world? or are they being summoned here?

BUY KOKOTÖNA 🫀| EC 💀 Artistic Spectral Disaster @elchupalabras.itch.io · 07/09/2026

6. The bat wings are meant to be pure shadow magicks pouring from the bracelet, not actual body parts. That’s why the actual fingers of the creature are slotted into bigger finger bones that act as the wing structure

130

BUY KOKOTÖNA 🫀| EC 💀 Artistic Spectral Disaster @elchupalabras.itch.io · 07/09/2026

5. Human hands are nailed on as pauldrons on their shoulders, their wrists bound with a dark thread linked to a human heart necklace. That’s pulled straight from classic tzitzimimeh imagery

4. That metallic element also carries the covenant sigil of Naktokatl, connecting it to the glyph on Yenelhi's necklace They are both inspired by different depictions of the nahui ollin

130

BUY KOKOTÖNA 🫀| EC 💀 Artistic Spectral Disaster @elchupalabras.itch.io · 07/09/2026

3. The yohualli (night) glyph is present through the whole design: glowing red scarification on the arms and "eyes", the shape the veil with the blood around the metallic element forms, the magicks bleeding from the portal, etc.

BUY KOKOTÖNA 🫀| EC 💀 Artistic Spectral Disaster @elchupalabras.itch.io · 07/09/2026

2. It's also designed to echo MÖRK BORG's angelic/alien race, the Pale Ones overall look and presence. The bald head, the unsettling not-quite-human face, and the sense of something ancient and otherworldly bleeding into our reality

BUY KOKOTÖNA 🫀| EC 💀 Artistic Spectral Disaster @elchupalabras.itch.io · 07/09/2026

1. The Tzitzimimeh are Nahua female star gods/demons/spirits, though this one in particular looks more "male" than more traditional depictions This is to add unto the female warrior on the front cover, complementing the game's message of not being "historically accurate"

mom said it's my turn with the bsky #ttrpg discourse All of these are from the same source, KOKOTÖNA my game AKA I'm an elightened centrist

Transform Teotlan as you see fit, reveal or conceal its awful truths at your whim. But this power must serve the tale you weave alongside your flesh-bearers. Their trust is the real power behind your myth, so treat it with respect, and never forget that at the end of the day, we're all just playing pretend. It falls to you, Great Mythmaker, to find the joy in this chronicle of suffering.

You require no special permission nor bloodline to add unto the myth. Do not treat this book as a relic too sacred for you to touch, but do treat its themes and people with the courtesy and respect they deserve.

DO NOT MAKE IT “AUTHENTIC”, make it another bloody thread in Teotlan’s unraveling web. Flay the module & stitch it back together with stolen flesh. Neither the gods nor your players care where the offering came from—only what is given.

A quick reminder: Don’t be weird about it. This isn’t a spiritually pure and uncorrupted paradise. The Empire sucks, the priestdom sucks, and the gods suck worst of all. Most Imperial citizens are just trying to survive an 8000-year-old covenant—doom in Teotlan is old, known, and bargained for. So keep it grim, just a tiny bit nobler: everyone is broken, desperate and doing what they must, because life goes on. —El Chupalabras
