Hi - I follow accounts via RSS. Aside from rare instances, I won't be using this account for the sake of my mental health; it's just for reading linked posts that have logged-in-only visibility. If you wanna chat, you can find me at disabled.social.

Hi! I'm so sorry for the delayed response. It's unfortunately not out yet; I've had a lot of chronic illness and disability stuff. I'm hoping to get back to it soon—it's just been hard to find the energy around doctor appointments. I really appreciate everyone who donated and want to make it happen!

Ah, I see the confusion. I think the original poster was talking about images of text (like screenshots of articles). In this case, alt text should contain the text of the image, and in many apps/phones you can copy that from the image. (Or one can copy from the article, which is more accurate.)

Alt text that simply duplicates the post text (which I think is what you're suggesting) would be bad. Not only would it be inaccurate and therefore useless, it would be redundant, wasting screen reader users' time.

If you have ever enjoyed or learned from a zine, would you join me in sharing or donating to this GoFundMe, for an artist who is a friend of friends and who is currently incarcerated and facing deportation related to allegedly having and moving some anarchist zines?

Yuuuup. I have so many stories. Expecting you to "self advocate" with a professor who is breaking the law when you're in a flare and the exertion makes you worse... Disability services was often part of the problem.

Thanks to the #InternetArchive I recently found an embroidery e-zine that's no longer online. I learned so much! If you support the Internet Archive, you can help save cultural knowledge and our internet history. Donate & then let us know about it! archivezine.org#donate #ArchiveZine2025 #zines
An Internet Archive snapshot of the Stitch On Line embroidery e-zine by Skinner Sisters, captured December 31st 2005. There are links to four issues: Blackwork, Sampler, Victorian, and Costume. See next post for a link to this archived site.

The new US admin censored gov websites. But thanks to the #InternetArchive, we can track what changed. We've raised $98! Can you help us pass $100? Donate directly & then fill out our form so we can count it towards our total! archivezine.org#donate #ArchiveZine2025 (art: bsky.app/profile/jame...)
An illustrated poster. A blue bird (the Twitter logo) is held in place with a red pin and says "hold our politicians accountable" in a speech bubble. Underneath text reads: Help us save the internet archive.

Ah, sorry! I'm not sure what's happening there, but the zine itself will be published in 2-4 weeks. This week folks can donate & then send us their receipt. We'll find a cool thing on the Internet Archive for each donation & then compile them into the zine. (And donors can suggest a topic!)

Donate to the Internet Archive, send us your receipt, and we'll include your donation in our zine! archivezine.org But what's a #zine? It's a self-published, DIY magazine. They have a long history, from punk music to politics to fanfiction, and the #InternetArchive houses a bunch! #ArchiveZine2025

The CBO says that this extends already existing scheduling of fentanyl-related substances, and fentanyl itself will remain Schedule 2. That was my reading of the bill, too. Is there something I'm missing? www.cbo.gov/publication/...

Cool, no rush (obviously)! I did see one study on sleep position, but it was in rats and their hypothesis for why some positions were better was to do with heart and breathing rate; apparently stronger inspiration has an affect? I did see a thing about inspiratory training and ME/CFS a while ago...

Reading your thread, I wondered- does gravity help the glymphatic system drain at night? What if the reason raising the head of the bed helps some people with POTS is because their bodies don't need to reduce blood volume as much to make room if gravity is helping to drain their glumphatic system?
