Since this summer, ICE has been arresting asylum applicants at airports. Many came legally, then applied for asylum. They have been here for years just stuck in a massive line, working and paying taxes while they wait. No prior admin would have arrested them. Their “overstay” is due to DHS delay.

To be clear, I actually work often on weekends, like many lawyers do. But I use the time to get things done that aren't answering emails, because a person has to set some boundaries in life. Unfortunately, I had to get into my email today to finish up some of those tasks and saw the message. Grr.

Why don't I usually check email on the weekend? Person signed employment contract late Fri. They emailed today wanting their case to proceed asap. I haven't even had a chance & they're complaining. Biggest problem with AI? That people forget that others still have a life & that work is still work.

For some people this means they lost their ability to file due to the green card backlogs announced on Tues that took place yesterday. USCIS continues to delay, deny, and otherwise mess up what should be easy tasks to detriment of US employers, immigrants & their families with no accountability.

We learned about this because attorneys received rejected applications in the mail based on an incorrect form edition. The edition date of 9/18 was correct, but the updated form has a different expiration date. WTF?

On 9/18, USCIS updated the Form I-485 Adjustment of Status application, used to apply for green cards from inside the US. Immigration software vendors promptly uploaded the new form into their systems. Today we learned that later on 9/18, USCIS slightly changed the form without telling anyone

We got a 3rd doodle (rescue). His name is Cam. We name our dogs after pro athletes and there are a lot of Cams so if someone changes teams, we're good. He's a good boy. (He's had a haircut since this pic but I haven't taken a new one yet.)
