The quilt debut! Got my month at the local apartment gallery hallway. Already lots of love and attention when I was hanging the quilt. The residents were excited to see something other than paintings!

Let’s talk trupunto. The quilting technique where you have extra fluff under the subject matter and less fluff elsewhere to create the illusion of a foreground and background. This is particularly fun when working with quilt panels.

Another quilt project prepped! Going to have a whale of a time! Not sure when this one will get finished; unless there is a silly amount of hype. Trying much smaller triangles to see how it looks. I have a lovely piece I want to make, but need some more alignment practice!

Finally using some neat neon thread that shifts between green, blue, and purple. Working on getting the quilt finished for my October gallery showcase. A local apartment building hosts local artists and I was accepted to fill their lobby for the month. Wooo for local art support!

Spider web, star, moon, and swirls for the quilt thread pattern. Using variegated thread from green, blue, and purple.

The journey continues. The top of the quilt is assembled into one piece. Quilters call it the flimsy until you finish it with backing fabric and batting. Time to get the spooky season quilt loaded onto the quilt machine!

Believe me when I tell you Kory's work for Tyrant Lizard Queen is absolutely killer. Just as beautiful, gross, horrific, and sweet as I could have hoped for. You're going to want this dino book. Rawr.

I am finally caught up on my “Oh crap it’s his birthday” panic for my nephew. He asked for a snake plush that is “Thiiiiiissss big” as he stretched his hands out huge. This fabric has been waiting for excuses to get used. Everything sourced from my fabric hoard successfully! No shopping needed

I have to ask a question to other textile artists… how many irons have you killed? Cuz I’m on the 4th one in 3 years. And these aren’t crappy irons. I mean yea I am sewing triangles for 8 hours straight; but this one had a rest mode so it wasn’t burning itself out! At least I had a back up iron….

Midnight update, maths have been mathed and we are good to assemble! 25% done and more to roll. Still deciding on header and footer fabric to lengthen the quilt. It’s a bit square shaped for on a bed. I make my quilts for use; they look gorgeous on a wall; but you can get a good hug from these too

I Agree with @anthrocon.org needing to fully vet their dealer Applications. I know they make a huge effort and one from last year misrepresented their application and arrived a something else. I would love to to see those tables kicked out and reselling to an artist ally person at least

Anthrocon bound and the Ohio turnpike is a desert for food options. I am so sad that it is only pizza and burgers the whole way in so far. We packed some fresh food for the trip thank goodness. But so sad

Ladies First Vs The Barbie movie. It’s fascinating to watch gender swap movies. My big disappointment with Ladies First is the male climbs the ladder because he knows what it is like to be the dominant gender first. So he has the confidence of someone who did this already. Btw fuck the patriarchy

My mini shrinky dink army grows! A nessy, cave dragon, lizard man, and jackalope! And they are all smaller than an inch. This stuff is crazy how it shrinks so much to just a quarter of the original size!
