I will be damned if I allow a bunch of Confederate-waving January 6th apologists give the American people a lecture on flag waving. There is ZERO reason to enter an argument about patriotism with people who still worship traitors to America 150+ years later. They. Are. Breaking. The. Law.

I ran an experiment, simultaneously posting articles on Bluesky and X, and then testing to see how many people actually clicked and read them. The numbers on Bluesky are higher, both because the X algorithm downranks journalism, and because Bluesky attracts readers, not just shitposters.

Every extra hour that ICE spends facing off with activists is an hour they can't spend kidnapping other people. Every extra minute ICE has to spend contingency planning around activists and neighbors, every extra officer ICE has to put on a kidnap squad, is a drain on their efficiency.

Remember: Wealth can’t be separated from power. Power begets wealth and wealth begets power. We're seeing in real time how the extreme concentration of wealth is distorting our politics, rigging our markets, and granting unprecedented power to a handful of billionaires.

As a candidate, Trump promised to end surprise medical billing.   Just weeks into his second term, DOGE has slashed the federal office charged with implementing a bipartisan law cracking down on surprise medical bills. Yet another Trump lie.

infuriating ... harassers/abusers are commonly also narcissists and have effectively limitless energy for gaslighting, threatening retaliation, wearing down those that might hold them slightly accountable, etc. ... most people cannot weather such an onslaught and end up leaving one way or another

I agree with you. In the last days I met many women who were grateful for this article and who have experienced similar things. Sadly many are too scared to say something openly. The silence is painful for many whistleblowers, especially, as it was really hard to come forward.

Disgusted, disturbed and distraught to read about the silence from #UiT. When whistleblowers dare to come forward with names and faces, while tenured academics stay silent, something is fundamentally wrong. Freedom of speech matters most when it's hardest. www.nordnorskdebatt.no/ubehagelig-s...

We must all stand up against harassment, sexual harassment, and abuse of power wherever it happens. Silence enables abusers; speaking up creates change. Together, we can build workplaces and systems where everyone is treated with dignity and respect. #StandUp #WomenInSTEM #UiT

The stories I’ve heard this week prove one thing: the system must change. The targeting of women and the culture of silence cannot continue. I hope that this case inspires not just reflection, but action—because without accountability, nothing will ever change. #UiT #WomenInSTEM #AcademicAbuse

It has been a week since I shared the story about Hansen. In that time, many women have come forward to thank me for standing up, sharing that they’ve been in similar positions. Their stories prove how widespread this issue is. This is why it’s so important to speak out. #UiT must learn and change.

Let them come, but do not engage. Simply observe, report, and block any harassment the moment you encounter it. Trolls thrive on attention and interaction, so remember the long-standing internet rule: "Don’t feed the trolls."

The article brought back a flood of bad memories, but she thanked the whistleblowers for standing up, saying: "I wish I had their bravery. There are many more that are abused. I thought it was my fault at some point." This is how abusers shame victims into silence. #UiT #AcademicAbuse #WomenInSTEM

I spoke today with one of the victims who chose not to come forward. I fully respect her decision, but she allowed me to share her story anonymously. There is no shame in being the victim and not being able to stand up. It was HIS fault. Not hers. #UiT #AcademicAbuse #WomenInSTEM

One good thing: Amidst the chaos, one leader stood apart. Christen Peder Dahl shielded us, listened to us, and ensured the people felt heard. While others aligned with power, he bore immense stress and relentless attacks to protect us. Without his strength, the case would have collapsed entirely.

We spoke out and now fear retaliation. The pain of those who suffered deserves recognition, and the culture of silence must end. Those who enabled this behavior must be held accountable if we are to prevent this from happening again.

His behavior was a relentless cycle of abuse and control. He mocked and humiliated students in front of others, reducing them to tears. He coerced women into attending inappropriate gatherings and made lewd comments about their appearances. Criticism was met with yelling, targeting, and retaliation.

Personal opinion here: The research wasn’t groundbreaking—it was "salami slice science." Small fragments of the same data were stretched into dozens of papers to inflate publication numbers. Journals where he and his collaborators held influence rubber-stamped these articles.

He instructed us to harass another research group to force them out of the laboratory space so we could take over faster. At the same time, he blamed us for not producing papers, even though we were building an entire lab from scratch that didn’t exist before.
