I think it’s cool how DARK SOULS gives the two male Catarina Knights the voice of, basically, Winston Churchill, but then if you look at their face data they’re both — consistent with their names — the most stereotypically German man you’ve ever seen

Someone else’s collage of the faces of the Catarina Knight characters from the DARK SOULS trilogy. In game, the Catarina Knights are always fully armoured, so you never see their faces, but because they are “player model NPCs” built using the same character creation system as players, they do have them. The leftmost is Siegmeyer (from DARK SOULS), a somewhat chubby white man with short brown hair, the hint of a beard, and an amiable smile. The middle is Siegward (from DARK SOULS III), a skinnier man with black hair, a receding hairline, and a trimmed pencil moustache. The rightmost image appears to be someone’s attempt to recreate Siegward in ELDEN RING; he looks younger and his moustache looks more like a lampshade moustache (extends further toward the nose) but he otherwise seems fairly similar.

CONQUEST: FRONTIER WARS Set my image of RTS games, for better or worse. I never got very far through it; I was and am terrible at RTS games. The aesthetics established my idea of what spaceships look like: when I think of a "big starship", I think of the Terran Dreadnought

A datamined image from CONQUEST: FRONTIER WARS, displaying the Terran Dreadnought, the heaviest class of direct fire vessel which can be manufactured by the Terran faction. It has a low polygon count, consistent with when it was made (2001), but some features can still be made out. The ship as a whole is a long brick whose front quarter tapers down to a trapezoidal prow. There's a protruding command bridge dorsal amidships, similar to an aircraft carrier but with the bridge in the centre of the ship because there's no need to make room for a flight deck. There are two main gun batteries forward of the bridge, each a swivel turret mounting 3 guns, similar to a US Second World War battleship. The ship has faction colour paint, consisting of a racing stripe reaching a short distance back from the prow, 3 diagonal "ribs" running down each side about level with the bridge, and a racing stripe at the stern; in this case, the paintwork is the default faction colour, yellow.

Emma Watson, an actress best known for her role in the HARRY POTTER film series. She probably in her mid-30s here, is white and has medium brown hair and brown eyes. She is wearing red lipstick. Someone in r/brisbane posted this map of what the Redcliffe Peninsula will look like after varying amounts of sea level rise (right) and frankly I'm delighted to hear there are such drastic improvements in store. Current map (left) attached for reference

Major differences include that:

At 1.5°C, Hays Inlet, a broad watercourse which runs in from the southern edge of the peninsula, has significantly expanded, obliterating the green space around it.

Because of the expansion of Hays Inlet, the "neck" connecting the Peninsula to the mainland, which is quite robust at current water levels, is diminished to a thin strand connecting modern Kippa-Ring to Deception Bay via Rothwell, roughly following the east–west State Route 26.

A smaller, nameless watercourse entering from the Peninsula's southern edge, in the suburb of Clontarf, has significantly expanded, with the effect of severing the Hornibrook Esplanade which runs along the southern edge of the peninsula and inundating several blocks of Clontarf and Woody Point.

The Houghton Highway/Ted Smout Memorial Bridge connection, which runs south-southwest from the Peninsula's southern extremity to the mainland suburb of Brighton, is gone.

The northwestern quarter of the peninsula is completely inundated at 1.5°C. In particular, the wealthy suburb of Newport, which is currently host to a large marina visible on the original map, is obliterated and completely gone.

UPDATE ON MY SUSPENSION

I can confirm that I have indeed been suspended from the Green Party. The only reason given for my immediate suspension is that I allegedly 'brought the party into disrepute' by choosing to run for a reserved female space on Green Party Council as a trans woman. [A photo is attached of the writer, Eleanora Folan, a white woman with green hair.]

In the Greens, suspensions are not a guilty verdict. I was not found guilty of breaking any rules whatsoever. The only actual disciplinary allegations against me are that I allegedly was rude to people on the internet, and that I 'gossiped'. *I was not suspended for any of this.*

The only reason given for my IMMEDIATE SUSPENSION was:

"EF's recent election to GPC and the accompanying media interest"

I was suspended just 8 days after being elected, in a secret group chat discussion which included just 13 of the 36 members of GPC.

My critics submitted 100 pages of transphobic articles as 'evidence', while I was banned from submitting anything in my defence and was not allowed to see the charges. There was no investigation and no formal hearing. *I was simply told that I had 'brought the party into disrepute' by being elected to a women's role whilst trans.*

My suspension was immediately leaked to the Daily Mail by the party. In my suspension email, the party sent me a link to a suicide hotline.

So, what happens next?

Because I have not been found guilty of any disciplinary offences whatsoever, the only 'appeal' process for suspension involves asking Green Party Council to reverse their decision. This is something I have to do, so please do not email or harass any Council members. That is not going to help anybody, and I strongly discourage anyone from contacting GPC members individually. I do not want you to do that.

*However, I know many people want to help. Please repost this statement to help clear my name. If you are a Green:*

Suspension decisions can be reversed if GPC considers that there are 'mitigating' circumstances. This can include representation sfrom other party members, submitted as part of th eofficial process.

I have therefore set up an online form where fellow Green members can submit statements expressing support for me and defending me. Please put your name and local party so it is accepted by GPC.

Monteriggioni is both real and still inhabited, by the way. It's one of the few real settlements I've seen represented in a video game at close to its actual size. Here's an aerial photo of it taken this year by Wikimedia Commons user Carsten Steger. The little swimming pool really tickles me

The houses are arranged in roughly west-northwest to east-southeast streets, and are all Renaissance or Romanesque in architecture. Virtually the entirety of the town seems to be contained within the walls; only a hotel (lower left), a car park (lower centre) and the town cemetery (lower middle right) are outside them. On the north (right) side inside the town is a rectangular shape, tiny from this distance, which is visibly painted in the trademark bright blue that indicates it is a modern swimming pool. The "Villa Auditore" which dominates the town in its ASSASSIN'S CREED II appearance is not present and there is no obviously corresponding building or elevation feature.

For anyone who's just now playing ELDEN RING for the first time, I offer the following:

An image macro, a variant of da share z0ne's "If it sucks ... hit da bricks!!". The original is over a picture of a sprinting skeleton; this one replaces the skeleton with Patches, a major NPC from ELDEN RING (and its spiritual predecessors DEMON'S SOULS, the DARK SOULS series and BLOODBORNE) who is a bald white man, in this case wearing a yellow-green light armour set with a black scarf.
