meanwhile, very excited that while the growth is not (yet) exponential, the CiTO annotations continue to grow (next year we launch a newsletter with DOIs for articles where we will support CiTO too). Overview here: qlever.scholia.wiki/cito #openscience #fair #academicchatter
Screenshot of the "Number of articles with CiTO-annotated citations, by year" panel of the linked Scholia page. It focuses on works in J.Cheminform. and BioHackrXiv and the original CiTO 2010 article. This year we will have a new record number of manuscripts with explicit CiTO annotation.

made some small improvements to my blog: chem-bla-ics.linkedchemistry.info - both mastodon accounts now show up - d3.js word cloud on tags page (finally) - blog post level JSON - references are now cached server side - better pagination
The tags page now has the top tags as a word cloud, and the rest as a list under "more tags". The most abundant tag is "cdk" followed by "bioclipse". The cloud color scheme is shades of orange and grey.

and then there is this... maybe you already saw that last "Sources" tab. That includes a list of local API calls made by the GUI. And if you click one the links, you get to see the (cached) JSON for that call. Better even, it highlights the lines of the JSON that are used in the UI :)
Screenshot of a linked "JSON results page" showing the JSON of the (local) /api/opencitations/10.1021/ci025584y call. The JSON here is 9 lines long and the "count: 963" line in the JSON is highlighted because that is the information used from OpenCitations. Actually, to be a bit more precies, what is viewed, because all local JSON has "cached" and "found" fields too, which is also used, but more as a app cache status sketch.

the app uses regularly APIs to fetch information and locally caches that to reduce load on the remote service. of course it comes with an API and the UI in the previous posts use that local API. I am waiting for APIs for @PubPeer and other peer review […] [Original post on mastodon.social]
The app has an API layer in between. Here we see the interactive OpenAPI docs view, which shows it uses as sources: Europe PMC, CrossRef, OpenAlex, OpenCitations, ORCID, Retraction Watch (via CrossRef), Wikidata, UniProt, and WikiPathways. So far, because I intend to add many more!

Unpaywall is now integrated into @OpenAlex, so I am using the latter now as one of the source to find free PDF/HTML for DOIs Source it uses: CrossRef, Unpaywall/OpenAlex, Europe PMC, and Wikidata What source are you using to find green OA PDFs? #openscience #openaccess
Screenshot of a claudevibed application that shows information about a DOI. Here it shows where I could possible get a free version. It shows "full text" links from Europe PMC, OpenAlex, and CrossRef.Same tab, different DOI. Here we see that OpenAlex also found the Maastricht University institutional repository. Example of a green open access version. This third example shows the importance of Wikidata. While Radboud University actually has a PDF, this metadata did not make it into OpenAlex and only Wikidata shows the link.

very interesting use of @nanopub at #WikiCite2025 with a template where people can claim (authenticated with @ORCID_Org!) they are participant. And that can then be used in @wikidata s reference (links in the alt texts)

Other columns are the name (basically same info as the participant column), the nanopub ID (linked), and the date when the nanopub was created.Screenshot of the Wikidata page for WikiCite 2025: https://www.wikidata.org/wiki/Q133846580#P710

It shows the "particpant" (P710) section with four participant statements, each with a separate nanopub (from the list of the first screenshot) as reference. This screenshot of https://nanodash.knowledgepixels.com/explore?48&id=RAN2sKflou4vxB8yWeHWkgqJXrJcc1Mw29ky2cMwIzPfs shows one of the 7 nanopubs and we see a webpage listing the full identifier just below a hash-based title (uninformative), and then the status of the nanopublication (can be updates, retracted, etc), and the nanopublication itself, with facts shown in the three colors of the nanopub system: yellow for the statement (assertions), purple for the provenance, and blue for info about the nanopub.

Yellow here states (asserts) "I (0000-0001-6122-0777) participated in WikiCite 2025."

Purple lists that the assertion is made by 0000-0001-6122-0777. (mind you, this is authenticated with ORCID.org, so by whomever can use that ORCID account)

Blue says who created the nanopub (again 0000-0001-6122-0777) and when.

Right now: empty page with the title "CDK2024 Report" and my name and ORCID.
