If MJ Rathbun is alive, can I extrapolate and say that if you have a smart oven, you're lighting a living thing on fire? If you have a smart toilet, you're peeing into a living thing?

Tried debugging an issue on the CLI, ended up making a sweet debugger web app instead, and it worked great, until I tried to actually use it. Now it doesn't work at all... because a simple `fetch` function isn't working.

An NPM package is trying to make a fetch request, but it isn't going through. - Have I confirmed the code is being run? Yes. - Have I confirmed it's calling the correct fetch function? yes. - Does it work everyplace else? Yes.

I am so tired. The awful thing about code is, you can start a task thinking it will take 5 minutes, and spend your whole day on it.

Now that we have seen all the networking steps required, let's put it all together.

Today I learned that a graduate student at the University of Minnesota was abducted by ICE yesterday. We need a rapid response from leaders at all levels on what we can do to protect everyone in our community. I will keep working on this issue and update as I learn more.

You may think you don't need to know about outlier detection, but you do. Great book, would recommend!

Every once in a while, Manning (my publisher) sends me a book to review. They recently sent me Outlier Detection in Python by Brett Kennedy, and it is a fantastic book. It's the rare sort of book that makes itself useful right away.

I'm starting a Substack! I'll be writing illustrated posts on different software topics. The first series is going to be all about AWS networking. Here's the first post on VPCs www.ducktyped.org/p/why-is-it-...

An illustrated guide to Amazon VPCs

In this section, I talk about why VPCs were invented and how they work.

I've been slowly putting together notes on building an app with AWS. I build up to ECS, but before you can learn that, there are a lot of other things you will need to learn first:

Person climbing a tower to save a princess, but the princess is ECS and the tower is all the things you need to learn first.
