I was a fool and cleaned this up and now my hands hurt :') Animating is still fun though :)

Danika @egg-noodle.bsky.social · 05/10/2026

(I say this like it isn't my dayjob, but just trust me, animation is cool and you are super cool if you try it, regardless of results.)

030

Danika @egg-noodle.bsky.social · 05/10/2026

Everyone should animate something at least once imo. It is both incredibly frustrating and incredibly rewarding, and it will absolutely look like arse at first, and you will 100% get RSI, but oh my god, look at that thing move. Look at it go. You drew that. Amazing work.

Danika @egg-noodle.bsky.social · 01/10/2026

I still think it was an absolute power move to make handshakes and hand holding the metaphor for sex in dtb :)

All I want to do recently is blog in great depth and detail about every single one of my creative decisions 😔 No draw. Only write about draw 😔😔

40 min doodle that I will probably never clean up, but I sure did my lose my mind at this merch set.

Danika @egg-noodle.bsky.social · 06/09/2026

I've been reworking this all month but I still don't quite know what the best way to show this would be 🤔 Anyway, "(re)birth".

"Like a reflection" Don't mind me, just going silly crazy about the gender sibs again today 🤡

030

Danika @egg-noodle.bsky.social · 03/08/2026

I need someone who knows more about gender than I do (very little) to watch dtb and then write an essay on everything they find in there (a lot). I also need someone who knows more about religion than I do (very little) to tell me what/where all the easter eggs are (a lot). Manifesting.....

I've been rereading KIYE and just getting emotional again by the People Can Be Places/Homes stuff and the Jobs Are Important And Are Also People stuff and the Containing The Representation Of Violence (a family's version of love) Within Yourself stuff and like fuck offffff dude. I love it very much!

A Good(?) Dream. (It was my birthday a little while ago so I doodled something self indulgent :D) Let's read Knives In Your Eyes (frictionpress.com/knives) together :D 🫴

Danika @egg-noodle.bsky.social · 17/07/2026

Putting these two illos together for no particular reason :) (Top one is a redraw of a screengrab, and I am forever pissed that we never got a repeat of it in canon. Oh the power of a single beautiful scene that we only see for 1 second haha.)

050

Danika @egg-noodle.bsky.social · 13/07/2026

Takes a break from drawing dtb to draw more dtb 🤡

Danika @egg-noodle.bsky.social · 29/06/2026

Short post: I need to attend a film festival soon or I will perish! Long post: I've been watching a show on tv where filmmakers travel the world and make short films and it's making me yearn for a curated screening of films about things I've never heard of by people I've never heard of.

Danika @egg-noodle.bsky.social · 27/06/2026

I wonder what it feels like to be normal about media. Wish I knew what that was like.

080

Danika @egg-noodle.bsky.social · 17/06/2026

This is beautiful!!! It always blows my mind a little bit how much depth you get in your shadows using just pens :O

000

Danika @egg-noodle.bsky.social · 16/06/2026

I hope you get something out of it! 🙌 It isn't analysing the script, just the visuals, and I haven't fully connected the dots between a lot of things, but I gave it a good crack haha. Please let me know if you have any other observations to add!

010

Danika @egg-noodle.bsky.social · 16/06/2026

Oh it's worse, I wrote a fic and decided to illustrate it bc I'm stronger at visuals than I am at text haha 🤡 But I'm very glad that you've been enjoying all my dtb art!! :D I'll be drawing stuff for many more months haha 💪

110

Danika @egg-noodle.bsky.social · 16/06/2026

True true true. The thinking that goes into both is slightly different, even though the physical aspect of making art is the same 🤔

010

Danika @egg-noodle.bsky.social · 14/06/2026

I dunno, I think I am just surrounded by people who are very passionate about making original stuff atm, and it's great to see, I love seeing them so enthusiastic and motivated! And then I wonder why I only ever experience that same thing when I'm making fanworks. I've never figured it out 🤔

160

Danika @egg-noodle.bsky.social · 14/06/2026

Every day when working on a huge self-inflicted fanwork project I think to myself 'imagine what I could make if I put all this energy into my own IP' but then I remember that I love making fanworks more than I love my own IP haha. Make the things that bring you joy, etc etc.

I just need to cheer about hitting the half way mark of my fun little dtb illo project. It is going well 💪🎉

Danika @egg-noodle.bsky.social · 04/06/2026

This all came about bc I spent a month using Wayback Machine to see if there were any existing shot analyses circa 2007-09, but couldn't find anything substantial. I figured I could've written one up myself in the time I had spent searching, so I did just that 🤡

030

Danika @egg-noodle.bsky.social · 04/06/2026

I wrote up a shot analysis of Darker Than Black :) ellipsus.com/read/24QCGK6... It is very image heavy and it has not been proofread. You do need to already be familiar with the show to understand everything in here, sorry. Please give it a read, I worked hard on it :)

Context for those who haven't been in the dtb mines: Season 1 canon: they are human siblings who are freaky about each other. Season 2 canon: they are gods who are both themselves and each other and their parents and their children all at the same time and they are freaky about it.

000

Danika @egg-noodle.bsky.social · 31/05/2026

Pai wishes to be her dream gender self but bc the gate is a little bitch, it creates a whole separate person instead, but her dream gender self is just a copy of her so he also has a dream gender self, which is her, so they are stuck wanting to be (with) each other 5eva.

100

Danika @egg-noodle.bsky.social · 31/05/2026

Some heibai doodles, for those that partake. I was trying to think of a way to make season 2 canon enjoyable to me but it involves keeping all the gender and the dead dove, and removing all the religion, which leaves you with something similar to what season 1 gave us anyway 🤔

🥹 Wah, thank you!!! First comp is my fav too, it was the first one I drew and it beamed itself so clearly into my head haha. Lysithea!!! Her and Kirsi!Yin aren't an exact 1:1, but they are definitely the same archetype, same with Hilda and Kiko, and it brings me so much joy haha

It's so weird how some things you can sketch up almost-perfect first try and others you only get right on like, the fourth rework. Oof.
