I still think it was an absolute power move to make handshakes and hand holding the metaphor for sex in dtb :)

Danika @egg-noodle.bsky.social · 30/09/2026

All I want to do recently is blog in great depth and detail about every single one of my creative decisions 😔 No draw. Only write about draw 😔😔

40 min doodle that I will probably never clean up, but I sure did my lose my mind at this merch set.

I've been reworking this all month but I still don't quite know what the best way to show this would be 🤔 Anyway, "(re)birth".

"Like a reflection" Don't mind me, just going silly crazy about the gender sibs again today 🤡

030

Danika @egg-noodle.bsky.social · 03/08/2026

I need someone who knows more about gender than I do (very little) to watch dtb and then write an essay on everything they find in there (a lot). I also need someone who knows more about religion than I do (very little) to tell me what/where all the easter eggs are (a lot). Manifesting.....

A Good(?) Dream. (It was my birthday a little while ago so I doodled something self indulgent :D) Let's read Knives In Your Eyes (frictionpress.com/knives) together :D 🫴

Putting these two illos together for no particular reason :) (Top one is a redraw of a screengrab, and I am forever pissed that we never got a repeat of it in canon. Oh the power of a single beautiful scene that we only see for 1 second haha.)

Danika @egg-noodle.bsky.social · 13/07/2026

Takes a break from drawing dtb to draw more dtb 🤡

Short post: I need to attend a film festival soon or I will perish! Long post: I've been watching a show on tv where filmmakers travel the world and make short films and it's making me yearn for a curated screening of films about things I've never heard of by people I've never heard of.

I wonder what it feels like to be normal about media. Wish I knew what that was like.

Every day when working on a huge self-inflicted fanwork project I think to myself 'imagine what I could make if I put all this energy into my own IP' but then I remember that I love making fanworks more than I love my own IP haha. Make the things that bring you joy, etc etc.

I just need to cheer about hitting the half way mark of my fun little dtb illo project. It is going well 💪🎉

I wrote up a shot analysis of Darker Than Black :) ellipsus.com/read/24QCGK6... It is very image heavy and it has not been proofread. You do need to already be familiar with the show to understand everything in here, sorry. Please give it a read, I worked hard on it :)

Some heibai doodles, for those that partake. I was trying to think of a way to make season 2 canon enjoyable to me but it involves keeping all the gender and the dead dove, and removing all the religion, which leaves you with something similar to what season 1 gave us anyway 🤔

The Adventures of Prince Achmed just turned one hundred years old. It's still among the best movies ever made. For the film's birthday, we're sharing Lotte Reiniger's wonderful firsthand account of its creation: animationobsessive.substack.com/p/a-film-tha...

It's so weird how some things you can sketch up almost-perfect first try and others you only get right on like, the fourth rework. Oof.

I finally drew him... it's his year.... I am going to sit on this for a while bc I have no idea how I want to render this. Colours will happen eventually... Sorry you have to see my silly guides, this is why my head hurts when I draw haha 😔

Forever cursed with wanting to learn how to build rigs. Got new anim software so I will be teaching myself this year. I wanna make a Val rig!!! Maybe Hunter too if I have energy. Here are my loose ideas.

Shh, they're investigating........ I just really want to see Misaki either joining the Kurosawa Detective Agency or stating her own rival PI business and getting continuously roped into Gai and Kiko's antics!!! 😂

More painting practice! I was too afraid if I kept noodling then I would ruin what I had (has happened many times) haha. I definitely feel like something has clicked, but the process unfortunately still feels like pulling teeth 😔

(I think handdrawn animators are the strongest people in the world and I respect them so much. My weak rig animator constitution couldn't handle a week as a handdrawn animator, I know this to be true in my heart haha.)

I got nervous about starting a new contract next week bc I haven't animated a single thing on my 2 month break OTL. A little practice to prove to myself that I can still do my job 😵‍💫
