FAWMStock was wonderful. Thank you @fawmchallenge.bsky.social Touching grass with new friends was good for the soul and the creativity.
Image Summary: A deer is listening to someone playing guitar; the image is taken from inside a building, through the window, and the musician is sitting on the porch outside.
Detailed Description: View through a window, from the inside of the building. The window is a side-slider and cracked open about four inches. Just outside the window, and visible from behind and about the midback upwarads, is a person playing guitar. The player is wearing a red yarn cap and dark blue-black jacket. They are playing guitar as evidenced by the neck and head extending out to the left, with capo and fingers visible. Their height relative to the balcony indicates they are sitting on the edge of the porch.
An adult doe mule deer is standing a few dozen yards beyond the guitar player. Her head is raised and ears extended, listening to the musician.
Above and behind is a grassy field, with an archery target visible to the far back left and trees lining the far edge.

Few things as cutely silly as a clumsy fledgling jumping and climbing around a birdbath in pursuit of a moth. Junior hasn't figured out standing water: he lifts one foot, shakes it off, puts it back down in the water and lifts the other and shakes. Then sees moth go by and tries again to catch it.

Sort of surreal looking at the beach, currently packed with people shellfishing and wandering around. And unfortunately, chasing off the shorebirds that usually would be foraging in the exposed flats and eelgrass beds.

Now that a few hundred yards of bindweed root have been cleared out of another strip of shoulder, time to toss showy milkweed and Agastache urticifolia seeds and such there. Would be nice if I got paid or even reimbursed for this *grump* 🌱 Behold, < 10% of what I pulled:
Several dozen feet of bindweed root looped in a pile on the soil. The root looks like 1/4" thick white rope. The ground is mostly bare, dark grey-black dirt with dried brown grass cuttings and pine needs on it. At the top can be seen the tips of fingers of a plastic glove, and in the top righthand corner the clipper have of a pair of offset pruners.Several dozen feet of bindweed root looped in a pile on the soil. A shadow is cast from the lower lefthand side that slightly darkens most of the pile of root.

Bummer. This was growing strongly but the leaves were blackening rapidly. Whatever killed it off last year was back. Diseased = into the trash. The pot broke while extracting the plant so it got trashed too. Glad I kept it isolated. Fingers crossed the Chelonia purchased in February stays healthy.

Need a recommendation for a 50%-shade understory plant (Seattle area) that can handle occasional root disturbance when I pull new bindweed + ivy sprouts. Soil is mostly loose forest-floor type spruce needle + some leaves, composting in place. Would Columbine handle this? Fringecup? 🌱
A tangled pile of white rope-like 1/4" thick roots, with some thin green vines and heart-shaped leaves mixed in. This is Bindweed (a bad, very invasive type of morning glory), which grows back from the huge root structure. Eliminating it requires pulling out all of the roots, which can be several feet long and result in new shoots coming up well removed from the previous plants. The first year several piles like this were pulled, the second year a couple big piles and lots of smaller pieces, and this third year has been merely a handful of new sprouts with short skinny broken root sections.

One brave white flower in a huge patch of invasives. Unfortunately it got yanked with the rest. I'm hoping it's something from a rhizome or similar and will come back next year. I have until then to figure out what it is and how to propagate it 🌱
A flower with 6 long, thin, semi-oval white petals, 6 short stamens surrounding the center. It has three other developing flower buds near it. Behind and all around it are geranium-like leaves, unripe seed pods, and a couple of purple flowers.

Depicts two entries for boots on the SportCo website: the left is "Bogs Classic Women's Mid-Boots without Handles" $115 and the buy button says "SOLD-OUT: ENTER EMAIL TO BE NOTIFIED WHEN NEW STOCK ARRIVES", the right is "Bogs Forge Steel Toe Boot" $184.95 and the button is "CHOOSE OPTIONS".
