First family snap from new season’s Bake Off!! It starts on Channel 4 in September, though I haven’t got an exact date to give you yet. As soon as I know, I’ll tell you. (And I have no info on timings for other territories, I’m afraid.) I couldn’t be happier!

so I do think that when people say "but we're not built for heat here!" what they at least partially mean is "we're used to being able to sort of just ignore the weather all year around!", which is unfortunately not something you get to do when it starts being 33 degree celsius in May

This new #JWST image of Saturn is AWESOME
The planet Saturn is clearly banded in this infrared view, and its rings are glowing. The small bright point at lower left of the planet is the icy satellite Dione. The background is pitch black.

NG2 light #uksnow. A nice way to end the holidays. Let’s see how it will look like in the morning!
A high-angle, nighttime photograph of a quiet residential street in the United Kingdom during a light snowfall. The scene is illuminated by a tall, bright streetlamp in the center, which casts a warm glow over the houses and reveals fine snowflakes falling through the air.

In the foreground, a frost-covered lawn and a paved driveway are visible, partially obscured by dark evergreen bushes. A wooden fence runs along the right side of the frame. Across the wet, dark asphalt road, a row of diverse detached and semi-detached houses stands under the night sky. The houses feature a mix of architectural styles, including white pebbledash exteriors, brickwork, and one traditional Tudor-style home with dark timber framing.

Thin layers of white snow coat the rooftops, the tops of manicured hedges, and several parked cars along the curbside. The windows of the homes are mostly dark, though one central house has a bright light shining from its front door, casting long shadows across its white driveway. The overall atmosphere is still, cold, and serene.

It’s journalism’s obesogenic environment problem. Everyone knows you’re meant to eat your greens (speak to domain experts, double-check), but social media has created a sea of cheap and convenient (open an app), hyper-palatable (sensationalised, alarmist), nutrient-poor (dubious veracity) options.
