Kershaw is a devout Christian, though unlike Denver Broncos quarterback Tim Tebow, he is hardly in your face about it. Kershaw and Tebow are two highly famous young professional athletes who outwardly approach their strong faith in markedly different ways.

If there is a showy, look-at-me aspect to Tebow and his kneeling in prayer on the football field and near zeal off it, Kershaw is more understated in his approach, if no less sincere.

Forget Helen Ruth. Poor Angeline Connor.

In 1886, Connor and his wife Angeline had a daughter named Lulu. She died as an infant. Connor interpreted the baby's death as God's punishment for marrying Angeline, who was not Catholic. Angeline had secretly begun receiving Catholic education and was planning to surprise Connor by getting baptized on the day that Lulu would have turned a year old. The couple later adopted a girl named Cecelia from a Catholic orphanage in New York City.

I wish I could tell you I was a good person who takes no joy in another fanbase’s anguish, but this article from Lookout Landing has filled me with glee this morning.

I had convinced myself I was beyond caring about the 2026 Mariners. There have been so many bad losses, and bad series, and overall bad baseball that it’s tough to get worked up about any one game. But tonight’s crushing extra-inning loss to the Astros seemed designed in a lab by an evil baseball god scientist to find that one last neuron in my fan-brain capable of feeling pain, and then went ahead and dragged a white-hot knife right down the middle. A recipe for a cocktail of pain: an unheralded prospect making his debut; a meltdown from my favorite Mariner Andrés Muñoz; and the Houston Astros, shaken and spread out over nine innings. Congratulations, evil baseball scientist. You got me.

Followed up on this challenge by focusing on leading lines. I haven't been fishing in years, but immediately had the idea for a fishing line and its own shadow converging on a bobber. Dappled some poster board with acrylic paint, painted a bead, and Bob's your uncle.

Nothing about this looks comfortable or organic.

Jeff Passan, in a green suit, on some sort of low, folding, leather strap lounge chair. His knees are jutting out eight inches past it and he's forced into a straight semi-reclining position. Opposite him, inexplicably wearing sweat shorts and a white tee, is... I don't know, some guy. He's sprawled on a sofa, legs spread and elbow draped across the back of the sofa. There is a coffee table but they cannot put their water bottles on it (those are on the ground to the sides of their respective chairs, I guess to make drinking water feel indignant) because instead, they have piled it with a platter of oversized baseball mitts and loose balls. Against a blank wall, being them, three bats form a triangle pattern with their knobs against one another. There is no art director in America who would take credit for something this heinous.

You might remember Danry Vásquez, who was caught on video beating his then-girlfriend at Whataburger Field before getting released by the Astros in 2016. Not much seems to have changed, as he decided yesterday the best way out of a pickle was to punch the 3B in the face. Literally fuck this guy.

After going undrafted in the 1999 NFL draft, Feely kicked for the Florida Bobcats of the Arena Football League. That season, he went 2-for-5 in field goal attempts and 8-for-13 in extra point attempts. He added three tackles (two solo) and forced a fumble.

Tampa Bay Storm

Feely kicked for the Tampa Bay Storm in 2000, converting one of six field goal attempts and three of four extra point attempts. He returned one kickoff for 22 yards.

I wasn't sure about sharing this because I don't think I've found the final form of this process yet, but I've been experimenting with multiple, close angles merged together in post until it looks like a drawing.
