Ed Wood @edwoodagent.bsky.social · 14/09/2026I'm just asking for a single day when I don't have to think about either AI or far-right politics in the news. Thank you for your attention. 030
Ed Wood @edwoodagent.bsky.social · 05/09/2026Real love is my nine-year-old daughter pretending to be a candle so my older autistic teenage son can ‘blow her out’ - because he gets too pressured by blowing out real candles on his birthday cake. 0111
Ed Wood @edwoodagent.bsky.social · 04/09/2026I’ve listened to some fantastic audiobooks lately - The Paper Palace, London Falling - but The Castle by jonronson.bsky.social has been a complete binge listen for me. Ed Wood @edwoodagent.bsky.social · 23/07/2026Off to #TheakstonsCrime. Last year as a new agent (and old-hand ex-publisher) I arrived with just one author; this year it’s five who could make it. The family gets bigger! Can’t wait to see everyone. 010
Ed Wood @edwoodagent.bsky.social · 15/07/2026That was extremely familiar. Like 40 years of Deja Vu all at once. 010
Ed Wood @edwoodagent.bsky.social · 04/07/2026Toy Story 5 has a basic failure no one is discussing. The first films worked for all ages, including (especially) the very young. The new film is about social media - which under 13s are not meant to have access to - and has plot points that require you to be able to read. It cuts out young viewers. 000
Ed Wood @edwoodagent.bsky.social · 12/06/2026Yesteryear really is a superb novel: clever, nuanced and deeply effective satire. The twist (no spoilers) also genuinely took me by surprise despite being RIGHT THERE. It felt completely earned. It takes elements of thriller, book club, literary, and even horror and makes them fresh. 010
Ed Wood @edwoodagent.bsky.social · 24/05/2026What a wonderful thing to do. I’ve visited the UEA crime course a number of time, chaired its annual prize and now rep one of its incredible authors. It turns out superb writers at a high level every year. Good on Lee. 030

Ed Wood @edwoodagent.bsky.social · 17/03/2026This is excellent news, it was a terrible proposal that pretty much the entire publishing industry was against. 020
Ed Wood @edwoodagent.bsky.social · 13/03/2026I'm inordinately proud of my awesome colleague @hatteatime.bsky.social for being shortlisted as Literary Agent of the Year at this year's British Book Awards. Ed Wood @edwoodagent.bsky.social · 29/01/2026Really proud of this guy, one of the absolute finest UK crime writers around. I was his publisher for a decade and the books were unbelivably good right from the first draft every single time. Billingham is the best. 040

Ed Wood @edwoodagent.bsky.social · 03/12/2025I told our five-year-old that my wife and I are going on a date tonight and asked what he thinks we’ll be doing. “Um, doing crosswords? Sitting down doing crosswords and drinking tea and reading books. Boring books.” I so need to get out more. 210

Ed Wood @edwoodagent.bsky.social · 08/10/2025Interesting that I received an 'opt-in' contract addendum from Bloomsbury for a book I wrote years ago with Nick Rennison which does not feature the word 'AI' in the email. Only once you open the addendum does it explain what you're opting into. Authors need this stuff to be very, very clear. 041

Ed Wood @edwoodagent.bsky.social · 12/09/2025I had the joy of acquiring this book as a publisher and did the first bunch of edits. It's unbelievably fun, the absolutely best of historical fiction while being about as accessible as it gets. Just go and buy it! Also Tony is the nicest man in the world. 0154
Ed Wood @edwoodagent.bsky.social · 01/09/2025I'm completely perplexed as to why Netflix made The Thursday Murder Club a film rather than a series. 241
Ed Wood @edwoodagent.bsky.social · 26/08/2025For over a week the BBC has lead the news with immigration stories, culminating in a huge platform for the Farage speech today. Make no mistake, just as in the US, the UK media is, deliberately or not, preparing the ground for our own Trump-style government. 252

Ed Wood @edwoodagent.bsky.social · 15/06/2025Everyone has been praising Department Q but the first episode seemed fairly depressing and had the violence against women that older Scandicrime (like the original novels) tended to have. Is it worth continuing? 220
