Breaking news: all deer are born on July 23rd apparently Happy birthday! :D

Another year older, the big 27! 🥳 Got to go to the DMV to renew my license, turns out my eyesight has gotten bad enough that I legally can't drive without my glasses so for once I actually feel older :D

To everyone who has shared your experiences with the avatar, It's hard to see the posts about your stories, experiences, changes, textures, drawings, "birthday" wishes... with tears blurring my vision. Thank you very much, it genuinely means a lot to me. 💙

Edwin! @edwinashdeer.bsky.social · 15/07/2026

Aaaaa ;w; Thank you Nardo for taking the time to read and leave a reply! And even moreso, thank you for the time and effort you put into making this model that me and so many others love and express ourselvss with. I know there are still plenty of great things I'll experience with it yet to come ❤️

*CORRECTION: 5th birthday 😅 Point still stands

All of this from a silly little VRC base. It's something that genuinely means a lot to me. I'm not sure how much direct impact this specific base had on my life, but I know it's sizeable. It means a lot to me. Again, Happy Nardo Day.

Edwin! @edwinashdeer.bsky.social · 15/07/2026

The fact that this avatar base acted as a great creative outlet for me is part of the reason I kept coming back to VRC. And through VRC I met friends that I wouldn't trade for the world: People I've gone out of the way to see, both at and outside of cons. People I hope I get to know for a long time.

This isn't even mentioning the effect it had on my sona. I had made my sona a deer dragon eventually and commed a ref sheet for it. I commissioned a FURSUIT after the design. There were aspects I really enjoyed in the nardo and wanted to use to express me. 🖌: SharkCatSG 📸: @tigerdragon.bsky.social

Since then, I've wanted to make adjustments. Custom texturing. Customizing and MAKING outfits. I learned Blender, Unity, and Substance Painter all the while. Over the course of 4 years, VRC became my creative outlet. 📸(1): @thepurplewicker.bsky.social 📸(2): @aetheo.bsky.social 📸(3): Me

... and so I did! And yeah this thing was NO frills. I didn't know much of anything about Unity or Blender, and I changed the colors on it with Paint.NET. Hardly resembles the deer I had. Regardless of that, I really enjoyed how it looked. Something clicked for me. 📸: Me 🖌: sparksreactor

The Nardo was the first VRC avi that really felt like it 'fit' for me. It was back in 2021 that I used it, initially still when I had a deer sona. There weren't any deer avatar bases that really fit for me back in the day, but I saw someone with a nardo and thought "Could I make a deer out of it?"

120

Edwin! @edwinashdeer.bsky.social · 15/07/2026

Happy Nardo Day! The nardo is an avatar that I've used for nearly 4 years now (with today being the base's 4th birthday!), and it's a base that honestly lead me on a journey. Gonna talk about that for a moment. 🧵 📸: @dracaris.bsky.social Base by @nardoiri.bsky.social #nardo #nardoragon

Happy Pride! 💛🤍💜🖤 💙💜❤️ Outstanding icon by @bluebiscuitraine.bsky.social! (🔞) #pride

Art of a deer dragon hybrid character wearing glasses, a harness, a crop top, jeans, and a collar. Their lower half of their crop top and their collar are adorned with the colors nonbinary flag, while their arm warmers and glasses tint are adorned with the colors of the bisexual flag. The outer and inner lining in the art is also adorned with these flags colors respectively. They are making a peace sign gesture with their right hand, and are looking at the viewer with a somewhat flirtatious smile.

Sometimes after a long week, the only thing you want to do is get cozy and read a book. Happy #fursuitfriday! 🪡: @glitzyfox.bsky.social 📸: Me!

A fursuiter lying on a couch with their knees bent. The fursuit is a deer dragon hybrid with glasses, they are wearing a hoodie and jeans. Their tail rests over their legs, and they are looking slightly towards the viewer. They are reading "There Is No Anti Memetics Division" by qntm.

Same subject, general pose, and book as previous photo. They are now looking more directly at the viewer.

A fit of incredible timing on my youtube feed

A screenshot of a youtube video thumbnail by Quinn's Ideas: the title of the video is "The Scariest Book I've Read in Years | There Is No Antimemetics Division". Posted 18 minutes prior to the screenshot.

Haven't posted here in a bit, need to change that. In the meanwhile, have this goofy gremlin pose taken by @shantuiox on twitter! I'll see if I can have a proper Fursuit Friday post this week.

Flexible, adaptable, resilient ✨️ Oustanding graphic design by @suflofurry.bsky.social, thank you so much <3

A graphic design with an anthropomorphic deer dragon character. They are posing with an enticing smile, leaning their head into their hand. Fuchsia is a prominent color. It is stylized with scientific descriptions of latex and a chemical structure diagram of natural rubber.

The difference if you ask me is pretty night and day, the back of the original hair if you ask me is kind of atrocious, I HATED seeing the back of it lmao New poly count is maybe about 1~2k more despite having notably far more detail is because this time I was smart enough to bake normal maps!

Pictures are always important for a new haircut c: Finally revisited and remade my first project I ever did where I created something new for my avi in Blender, which was the hair! Love how it came out, it felt great to see how much I improved on my previous work.

A deer dragon hybrid wearing pants, a crop top, harness, arm warmers, collar, and glasses. They are posing for the camera, one arm across their chest while the other hand is held up in a peace sign. They are smiling, there are bright fuchsia tones in the photo.

Same subject at an angle, back towards a wall. The camera is at a slight angle, while the subject's head is tilted one way but looking directly at the viewer. Their arms are behind their head to rest it, they make a light smile.

Same subject, angle, and expression as previous, but one hand rests on their side while their hand is set to support their head from the side in a cute pose.

I've seen plenty of other instances of mods/admins either taking no course of action or entirely improper course of action in other cases. I can provide examples if asked. As cool of a concept this site is, poor implementation and lack of proper moderation makes this site unusable legitimately.

Edwin! @edwinashdeer.bsky.social · 15/08/2025

Reports of player behavior can only be reported on their subreddit under a post for reporting players. You read that right: to report a player, you have to publicly post it. I shouldn't have to explain why that is an awful system. The log is entirely backed up with numerous reports by the minute.

As of right now I have to get friends to help me remove my piece which has been griefed to actively misgender and display both explicit and self harm imagery. Content warning for picture below as an example. These griefers are actively rebuilding too as I write. They know no one is stopping them.

A griefed pixel drawing of a character, there are self harm scars on the wrists and thighs, a set of pronouns are overwritten to misgender the creator.

Making a write up at this point, don't know what spheres this will reach if any but at this point I have to say I cannot in good faith recommend wplace. With mods either swamped with other issues or indifferent to some, making anything on the site opens you up to harassment with no way to curb it.
