It has been dry this summer. This is reflected in the stored water volume of the Sooke Reservoir (our drinking water supply). Normally I'd say don't worry, the rainy season will fill it. Indeed, it would be very surprising if the wet season we rely on to […] [Original post on scribili.masto.host]

I observed 37 mm of rain at #UVic in September over seven days (versus and average of 36 mm). Most of the rain fell at the end of the month. No surprises here.

September here at #UVic was pretty average with respect to temperature. Daily average temperatures following expected values, with a few, mostly cool, deviations. There was a good share of warm sunny days.
A time-series chart of daily average temperatures. A red curve for this year is superimposed on a blue curve of averages. This year's curve is more wiggly than the averages.

I was cycling home and did a double take. A goose I’ve never seen before! Looking it up later, it’s a flock (family I’m guessing) of greater white-white fronted gooses. I guess I am becoming a bird watcher. #birds #geese #YYJ

Summer is really over now #VictoriaBC. Today's rain marks the end of a 24-day 'drought'. We'll see more dry spells this year, but they won't last this long. The chart shows the record of droughts and wets in the region. #UVic

August 2026 was very dry at #UVic. I observed only 5.8 mm of rain over four days. The average for the month is 16 mm (and five days). Interestingly, it has only rained once on 18 August in my records (since 2002). #VictoriaBC
