I recognize this is an unpopular opinion in downtown Saint Paul circles, but the nostalgia for what was the downtown skyway system is unhealthy. We're not going to have the vitality to support both a vibrant skyway network and vibrant streetscapes. www.edwardjensen.net/posts/2026/2... #dtstpaul

There have been a lot of stories lately trying to reckon social media. The arguments are the same. Instead, let's think about infrastructure planning and how to back up your public thinking. A blog is boring. That's the point. www.edwardjensen.net/posts/2026/2... #BoringIT

But it seems like most of the "advocacy" for the skyway system is based on a nostalgia of what it was. Sadly, downtown lacks the vibrancy to have BOTH a thriving skyway network AND vibrant streets. www.edwardjensen.net/posts/2026/2... #dtstpaul

With Waymo testing in Minneapolis (not Saint Paul, which makes no sense), the naysayers are out. The same criticisms were had when it launched in Phoenix. (Also, yes, i was one of them.) It's fine. The bad stuff you predict didn't happen in Phoenix. www.startribune.com/waymo-driver...

Waymo is coming. How will robocars deal with wintry Minneapolis roads?
Waymo is currently operating in temperate cities. It’s not clear how the vehicles will handle ice and snow, but there are local examples to learn from.

It's been almost a year, but I've made quite a lot of progress on my website. It's amazing how much stuff you have to think of when you have to maintain everything, not rely on others to do so. I have learned so much!

It is the hymn of our age: "Yet with the woes of sin and strife The world has suffered long; Beneath the angel-strain have rolled Two thousand years of wrong; And man, at war with man, hears not The love-song which they bring: O hush the noise, ye men of strife, And hear the angels sing!" On the one hand, it’s great Phoenix finally has its Micro Center. On the other hand, it’s far nicer than the one in Minneapolis. This is conflicting!
Exterior photograph of a Micro Center retail store on a clear sunny day. The building features a prominent blue facade with white signage reading MICRO CENTER and computers & electronics below. The address 4531 is displayed above the glass entrance doors. Several customers are walking near the entrance. The building has grey horizontal striped panels on either side of the blue central section, with a small tree visible on the left and a parking lot in the foreground.

Patio table still life
Winter scene of a snow-covered patio or garden area with large ceramic planters, one upright barrel-shaped pot with snow accumulated on top and another tipped on its side nearly buried in deep snow, with a dark metal railing and deck structure visible in the background under warm low-angle sunlight casting soft shadows across the pristine white snow.
