Edwar @edwar.bsky.social · 18/09/20262001 is my favourite year for albums. I thought I had probably wrung that sponge dry, but I found loads of great new records before and during the tournament. 041

Edwar @edwar.bsky.social · 18/09/2026I can't believe I'm finding out like this. I haven't even done my ritual ablutions. 000
Edwar @edwar.bsky.social · 18/09/2026But still pretty strong? I don't really know what people's expectations are. 200
Edwar @edwar.bsky.social · 18/09/2026Or Dr Dre, or Lauryn Hill, or De la Soul who came second. The idea that rap doesn't do well seems like a really stubborn myth to bust. 220

Edwar @edwar.bsky.social · 16/09/2026I love IS THIS IT, and I think it's aged really well (as things that feel a couple of decades old when they come out often do). But it's still Vespertine for me. 051
Edwar @edwar.bsky.social · 16/09/2026Neither of them look right. That's a 'black and white photo of the band looking cool on the street' album if ever there was one. 391
Edwar @edwar.bsky.social · 15/09/2026Yeah, everyone's laughing now, but in a few months it'll know how many e's are in 'seventeen' and it'll be coming for my job at the e counting factory. 0210

Edwar @edwar.bsky.social · 10/09/2026I don't think I've gotten around to listening to SRO until now. I've not finished it yet, but so far it's in the running for least favourite in the tournament. Really surprised it's stuck around so long. 031
Edwar @edwar.bsky.social · 02/09/2026Putting in a tentative IS THIS IT vote but will re-listen to both. I loved Timbaland's production back in the day, but it seems to have aged pretty badly to me...? I kind of wish I had a jaded hipster attitude about The Strokes, but I just really like that record. 031
Edwar @edwar.bsky.social · 29/08/2026I assumed that the voters were going to be very much more Pitchfork in 2001 about Daft Punk and The Microphones than the seeding suggested and I am really paying for it. 041
Edwar @edwar.bsky.social · 27/08/2026Two records I've returned to many times since their release. Low because it's a perennial favourite, and Wilco to see if I can work out what all the fuss is about. 041
Edwar @edwar.bsky.social · 25/08/2026I am going to guess that this is the first match in tournament history that both albums made the end of year lists in the NME, Wire Magazine, and Terrorizer. I've got a lot of time for AMNESIAC, but THE COLD VEIN is an untouchable classic to me. By far my favourite rap album. 051
Edwar @edwar.bsky.social · 18/08/2026Can't help but read it in the Hal 9000 voice. Must be especially disconcerting for Daves. 010

Edwar @edwar.bsky.social · 01/08/2026The Cold Vein is not doing the numbers I'd assumed it would. I've got it down to beat Amnesiac in the next round which seems insane at this point. 052

Edwar @edwar.bsky.social · 23/07/2026So interesting. Green voters are the most risk adverse while Reform are the biggest gamblers (16% vs 24% going for the million). But 18-24 is the riskiest age group and 65+ the least (28% vs 11%). 000

Edwar @edwar.bsky.social · 07/07/2026My son dismisses Bob Dylan as 'old man McGucket music'. And that's when I'm playing his 60s stuff in the car. Love and Theft surpasses my tolerance for McGucketiness, but I'm going to give it one last chance. Rooty takes a lot of beating though. 081
