iiinova — where your digital self keeps evolving

And then of course there was the final interrupted evolution.

I've always maintained that theory. He fused with the creature, triggered the evolution, and influenced it's behaviors. In it's second form it wants to stand on two feet, and when it can't it evolves. It inexplicably heads for Tokyo because that's where Maki lived (born on Odo).

It's easy to overlook these days how special The War Within was. It was the first time ever that the Generation One characters were redesigned from their toy or animation designs, and the hype just for that was incredible. To this day, it has my favourite Cybertronian designs for several characters.

I'd prefer it to be the Studio Series 86 mold with this king of head, but beggers can't be choosers. Since SS86 has done both Bumblebee and Cliffjumper, and Glyph and Tap-Out were the stars of the only TF Valentine's special, you have to think somebody needs sacking...

On the rare occasion that Hasbro actually do a head like this, I hope to god they'll FINALLY do a mainline Glyph.

Since Minus Zero was filmed for Imax, I've been looking for local Imax cinemas. Turns out my nearest is at Resorts World, by the Hilton Metropole.

I will absolutely get these. But the wave ahead (and specials like Grimlock and Ginrai) still haven't released, so these are probably over a year away at least.

The story barely hangs together, but the fight animation has yet to be bettered in a SF production. I go back to it every couple of years.

After the passing of Peter Cullen, I'm wondering if I should pull my two tribute pieces from my prints list for a couple years? I don't want people to think I'm some ghoul out to make money from the tragedy...

I really enjoyed drawing EJ Su's designs for Prowl and Ratchet. But I most enjoyed getting to give a head-canon reason for Dogfight to change from his 'Stormbringer' design to hid 'MTMTE' one. The Firecons are always fun to draw.

My contribution to an old fancomic; Chapter 4 of "Fire And Iron". Set in early IDW, specifically after Optimus is dropped off on Earth at the end of 'Infiltration', starring his ship's crew. Written by @adtcomics.bsky.social. Read the Alt txt for my attempts to contextualise.

PREVIOUSLY: After dropping off Optimus with Prowl's infiltration unit, his chauffeurs Crosshairs, Backstreet, and Dogfight follow a Cybertronian S.O.S. to England, only to discover escape pods in a cave, open, and the Firecons unleashed! Attempting to avoid incineration, Backstreet dives into a pod and Sparkstalker and Cindersaur give it their full fury.
NOW: The escape pod has melted and buckled and fused with Backstreet as the pair of Firecons gloat before deciding to go help Flamefeather with the other Autobots.

At the mouth of the cave, Flamefeather hits the floor unconscious. Dogfight and Crosshairs are battered but victorious, and issue a warning to Sparkstalker and Cindersaur to surrender or face a worse fate. Cindersaur steps aside and reveals what they did to Backstreet, goading the Autobots into rash action. However, as the Autobots rush in, the fire in the Firecon's mouths abruptly extinguishes and the pair freeze. The two Autobots realise that, luckily, the Firecons had burned through their entire remaining fuel reserves.

At that moment Prowl and Ratchet arrive, having earlier heard Crosshair's call for backup. They rush evac, loading the Backstreet pod and Firecons onto their ship while Prowl destroys the two remaining pods to prevent local human life discovering their technology.
Later, mysterious agents in containment suits search the cave for leftovers, with one of them making an overlooked discovery.

Angelica was probably the first woman super-hero I ever encountered and has been a fave since day one. It's just a shame she was such a jobber character, popping up randomly in other books or being part of various teams, because any kind of character-specific complete collection can never happen.

Piz @edpirrie.bsky.social · 26/09/2026

I don't think I've ever seen a character handled SO badly, SO immediately, after their first writer leaves the book. It's a testament to how strongly she was set up that I still care and make that divide in my head.
