Ah, okay. I don't know much about generators.

And there likely would have been fewer participants.

Yikes, yeah, I also wouldn't want that.

A convenient "mistake" that was in his favor to the tune of $15,000.

Oh, well again, that probably makes sense given the weather.

Yay! You made progress. And Friday afternoon is a great time for distractions. #StetSprint

And that's our time! How did you do? I got more of my rough draft down. #StetSprint

Ugh, that's disgusting that they didn't tell you about that cost early on. And that's a lot of money to spring on a person last minute.

Hi Regina! Glad to have you at another sprint! Good luck with the dark rom-com! #StetSprint

Awesome! Glad this will work for you. I really like Halidon's playlists, especially since they generally use real pieces of art to accompany the music instead of AI. And they put out new playlists regularly.

That webinar does sound good. I just find it hard to focus on Friday afternoons sometimes, which is part of the reason why I suggested this time for a #StetChat since I figured others would be in the same boat.

No worries! We know that not everyone can participate during every sprint. We're still happy to have you here. #StetSprint

Okay, but that still could do a bit of damage. We've gotten wind storms here that knocked out power and caused lots of road and property damage.

Absolutely. I hate that I need to question if that adorable photo/video of an animal frolicking is AI. Or if that cute shirt really looks like that or if it's just slop. How can AI be promoted as a time saver if it costs everyone so much time to determine if it's been used?

Yay! Hi Lynne! Happy to have you aboard (is that the right term?) for today's #StetSprint. Good luck on those six pages.

Hi Steph! Glad to have you back. Have a good lunch. It's too bad you have meeting on a Friday afternoon, but hopefully they are quick. #StetSprint

Hi Katie! Glad to have you along. Oh man, this project sounds like a potentially tough one. I hope your author accepted most of your proposed changes. I know how frustrating it is when they don't. #StetSprint

Thank you, Jennifer! I wasn't sure if anyone would be interested, so I asked in an editing Discord I belong to and several folks said they'd like to read it too. Yay! #StetSprint

Hello stetters! I'm here to host another #StetSprint. Right now I'm working on an article about how I treat numbers in TTRPGs, sexy stuff I know. I'm currently listening to this playlist: www.youtube.com/watch?v=0Tbq... What are you all up to?

Yes! I refuse to work on games where AI is moderately/heavily used. I will make exceptions for some minor uses, though I do prefer for games to use none.

I swear, we have a few "evil character" GIFs and suddenly we're accused of being calculating, world-dominating editors!

Exactly. It's scary how easily people hide stuff like that. And how you don't know what's an ad and what's an honest review.

Rachel Lapidow @editrix-rachel.bsky.social · 14h
Aww! That's very sweet of you to say. I'm also someone who doesn't like boats, so I'm probably more like a house cat than an orca.

But as the copyeditor, editing a game w/ bespoke mechanics means I have no official guide to look at to see how things are handled. On the one hand, I like having more agency. On the other, it takes more time, and I have to be careful to check that stats make sense.
110
Rachel Lapidow @editrix-rachel.bsky.social · 14h
A lot of the games I've worked on use bespoke systems, which means the creators can create mechanics to do exactly what they want. And they can get rid of elements that may be racist, misogynistic, ableist, etc.

Rachel Lapidow @editrix-rachel.bsky.social · 14h
Yeah, I don't want people to think I'm pushing games because I'll make money off them. Just how I push a lot of Vermont-made products that I don't get any commission for. I post about the games because I like them and think they're good.

Rachel Lapidow @editrix-rachel.bsky.social · 14h
Right? I was all, "Where are the whales?" and "Why no dolphins?" In the fantasy TTRPG I'm currently working on, every time I see the word "orc" my brain goes, "Good, orcas."

Rachel Lapidow @editrix-rachel.bsky.social · 14h
I also want to say that I have already been paid for my services and am not getting any kickbacks or slice of the profits for E-Scape or any other game that I've worked on.

Rachel Lapidow @editrix-rachel.bsky.social · 14h
That's great! It can be so hard for indie game designers to sell their games since there's so much competition. I'm glad that there are more games than ever to choose from, but it can make it hard for designers.

Yay! If you end up picking up a copy, Roran, I hope you like it.

There are also some things that reminded me of Blue Planet: Recontact, Pawel! Political issues, some game mechanics, and ethical questions that are raised by the narrative. Sadly, no uplifted whales.

I think you're right. And I did this to other reply guys. But with this dude, I wasn't quite sure of his motives. Lesson learned.

Rachel Lapidow @editrix-rachel.bsky.social · 15h
Yes! I think this may be the second biggest game I've worked on. It was a lot of fun and the creator is committed to using real human work. There is no AI in the writing, editing, or art.

Rachel Lapidow @editrix-rachel.bsky.social · 15h
It also reminds me a lot of Return to the Stars by @marksab.bsky.social which is a hopepunk game. I worked on RttS. That game is rules light and has a lighter tone than E-Scape, but some of the character abilities are similar.

while your flesh-and-blood body continues to live in the real world. Because both versions link up regularly, it means that you as a person get to basically live two existences. There are also elements that remind me of Blade Runner, The Matrix, and other cyberpunk stories.

Rachel Lapidow @editrix-rachel.bsky.social · 15h
Hmm. I would say that it reminds me a bit of Surrogates. I only saw the movie, which wasn't that good, but I liked the underlying concept of people having doubles that allowed them to live bolder lives. In E-Scape, your "double" lives in a virtual world,

Rachel Lapidow @editrix-rachel.bsky.social · 16h
I edited E-Scape. If you enjoy more cerebral, sci-fi TTRPGs that raise interesting moral questions while still being very fun to play (one of the included adventures is of a super cool heist), then I recommend checking out E-Scape when it launches on October 20. #ttrpg

Sure seems that way. I imagine they tell themselves that capitalism is the only way every time they fill up their tanks, go to the grocery store, or get a medical bill.
